Schwab's Rank - WSJ - The 2026 Best Companies for the Future

The Wall Street Journal evaluates how leading US corps stack up in 6 areas: AI readiness, innovation, talent readiness, financial fitness, resilience and agility.

Charles Schwab ranks #51 overall with an Overall Score of 62.0, placing it 8th out of 41 Financial Services companies. Its best factor is Agility Rank #30, followed by Financial Fitness #77, Innovation #82, and Talent Readiness #132. This is a strong result for a financial platform company.

The key weakness is Resilience Rank #353, which prevents Schwab from screening as a fully balanced financial compounder. AI is also moderate at #139. The strategic read is that Schwab is being rewarded for platform scale, client infrastructure, and execution speed, but the model is flagging vulnerability around resilience. It looks like a strong future-ready brokerage platform, but not a low-risk defensive financial.

What part of the report do you find hard to understand?

I think what the results say is that Schwab is NOT the place to be in the future. Being #132 in Talent Readiness is a sign that many alredt found that out.
