Topics regarding layoffs at VMware

Intrigued

So I’m from VMware and have a quick question for the team at Broadcom. Given many of you know the benefits that VMware offered their employees and the jibes that you have given VMware for being Woke or snowflakes etc, I wondered if Hock had added... — read more

How are laid off people doing so far?

Since this Layoff form, I just want to reach out to fellow laid off CMW employees and check how they are doing? What’s the plan now? How’s job hunting going? Taking a break? Just looking for feedback and advice since it’s my time ever getting laid... — read more

Layers between Hock Tan and IC

Hock Tan said there are only 2 or 3 layers between him and IC. However, currently, we still have 6 or 7 layers in between. How could these be flattened out to 2 to 3 layers?

Personal rant

Unlike sales or other business oriented teams, I work as part of support and while other teams saw their workload slow down as results of the acquisition our team was just bombared with work. It’s weird trying to keep up with all your SR’s while... — read more

RTO is a ruse to make people quit

Forced RTO is a way to make life uncomfortable for people so they will leave voluntarily - this allows Broadcom to avoid more layoffs and pay severance. Here's an article that explains this... — read more

COBRA

If I quit before 12/31 then I should be on UHC COBRA. If I quit after 12/31 then I should be on BComs Insurance COBRA. Correct?

Worried Broadcom employee

As an ex-CA - current Broadcom employee I’m a bit worried that VMware will become an anti-office, anti-Broadcom faction within the company and drag the stock price down and/or disrupt business. The current mood of this VMware acquisition is... — read more

Arbitration Agreement

I'm on a transition contract and have been asked to sign an arbitration agreement from Broadcom HR. is this normal? Should I sign if I know I am about to be laid off and what are the repercussions if I don't sign? I don't want to jeopardize the... — read more

More transparency, please

More than half of the questions asked repeatedly on this board should not even be questions. They should have been answered by both VMware and Broadcom leadership a long time ago. It's unfathomable to me that we still don't know some of the most... — read more

WFH is NOT a benefit…

stand your ground. Unite and you will prevail. Don’t let a CEO or manager tell you otherwise. Build up a strong unity.HT is scare to lose talent and the VMware deal has caused a lot of sleepless nights. Now it’s time to come together and get groups... — read more

I would take a 50% cut in TC in a heartbeat to not RTO

Instead, I will do the bare minimum, come in whenever I feel like it, and let my RSUs vest until I get let go with severance. Lol, just lol at Hock. If you wanted to penny pinch so badly there was an easier way.

Tanzu - slow death

Tanzu is likely to slowly implode. It was always a long shot and it will not survive a BC profit centered management model.

BC screws UK employees over

Typically VMware policy for redundancy was at least a month for each year of service. BC plan to only give uk folks one week for each year. Wish VMware made me redundant last year that way my 13yrs of service would have ended in better light. Thank... — read more

On Monday make sure to collaborate with everyone

They want RTO so that the collaboration is there. Make sure to spend plenty of time "collaborating" with everyone at the office. Lets show how efficient RTO work is. Make sure to take both of your 15 minute breaks and all of your lunch too.

Shares should have vested on Dec 1st, where are they?

I am one of the US employees that was terminated, with my last official day on Jan 26th. My VMW RSUs should have vested on Dec 1st, but my E-Trade account is empty. Shouldn't these have converted to AVGO, and if so, where are they?

Prejudice against WFH

Where does this perception at BC even come from that WFH means you‘re basically lying in bed all day, or maybe walking your dog instead? I have been working from home for 20 years now. Being a single parent, I wouldn‘t have had the chance to grow my... — read more

Severance negotiation?

Is anyone attempting to negotiate the severance offer? Any success or tips? I did send a letter (ticket) to BC HR but I have not heard anything. I am assessing what to do when the time to sign the final release runs out. I welcome ideas!

today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday

I don't understand the comments regarding Broadcom. Remember, you have options and aren't obligated to work like a slave. Many overlook this crucial fact. It's your life, and you should choose what's best for you. Not everyone in EMEA, including... — read more

Backfilling at BC

Can’t give a lot of detail but my current vmw manager is a nightmare to work under. With all the churn from rejected FTE offers, will there be the ability to transition into a different role at BC anytime soon?
