Thread regarding VMware layoffs

RTO mandate - will you take sick leave when kids are sick now?

With wfh, I handled work along with sick child who couldn’t go to school. Now, since Hock wants us to work only from office, I no longer intend to do extra work. Benefit gone, extra work gone.

If my kid is sick, I will stay home and not work. So that is sick day for me too

I like to go to the office when I’m sick in order spread my disease to as many people as possible!

BC is not kids friendly company, better find something else in long run.

I can't speak for other countries, but in the USA, Broadcom has an unlimited PTO which is not tracked in Workday. You just have to clear it with your direct manager. If you or a family member is sick, take the day off. If you want to go to Disney for two weeks, schedule it ahead of time. That hasn't changed at all from VMware's policies.

This information was part of the onboarding package that we received last week.

Hock prefers single senior employees or ones who are married but without kids. That's the only way for an employee to work like crazy without family life getting impacted. if you work at BC and have kids you are going to regret it.

@ruy+1pSG0mMb, yeah, like any CEO on earth would personally oversee an employee's PTOs and sick days.

you take sick leave for your kid be careful. Broadcom will quietly put you on a “ki-l list” for potential future layoffs.

Hock Tan is a ruthless optimizer and if he sniffs a layoff opportunity to save a few bucks he’ll pull the trigger in a heartbeat.

Welcome to your new reality !

Who told you buddy? You can use your entitled leaves and holiday as you wish.. if you dont like company policies dont hang arround.. you know Broadcom attrition rate is just 6.5%? Dont spill beans..

The level of arrogance and lack of empathy is eye opening in the earlier reply. More like a BC HR or HT’s minions. To my fellow VMW colleagues, if you are still trying to ensure work is addressed while going through personal life challenges, please stop responding to work emails when you are on sick or carer leave from now on

This show how you want to sulk the companies money ? When you are on sick leave or on a holiday who asked to respond to the emails? Responding an email on a holiday wont entitle you wfh dear..

performance was much better and more number of hours to work at home. Broadcom didn’t bother to think about that actually. Now as in office employee, we cannot go over and above like remote employees unfortunately. They themselves chose this. And we can’t be pressured on that now. We are spending 2 hours in traffic which could have gone in the work as well.

BC is not only company and no one will stop you from searching another job with WFH luxury... why you want to stick to BC? Move on and have no traffic days.. work where your performance speaks...

Not worried about performance. Lay me off Hock daddy. I want the severance package rather than work for this sh-t show. I am just going back to the office to be a cancer. Sowing discontent and stirring the pot. Got to get let go within the next 18 months, to then move on in a customer role and become a bigger pain in the a-s.

Dont worry , you will have paid leaves as well you can take loss of pay as personal life always stand first , if you think company has to pay even if im at home to take of the kid or other personal work
it wont be encouraged and BC will review performance as well. its not guaranteed that whoever coming to office their job is safe without performance.
