Thread regarding VMware layoffs

My first day back in the office

One of my teammates also came into the office. And three managers.

I've done exactly the same amount of work in the office as at home.

Collaboration? No. Chips? Yes.

I attended a Zoom meeting in the office, hosted by a manager sitting one row away from me. There were so few people in the office that she didn't even bother to book a room.

Manager: "I was going to bring donuts but there's just so much to do with having to come in to the office."
Said with no irony, understanding, or insight.

That other teammate? Sounded like a job interview when I walked by. Good luck, bud.

Except for the water bottle I received, coming into the office enhanced my productivity exactly zero. Wasted commute time though. Nice job, Hock.

Anyone figure out the bear way
  1. Growl.
  2. Swipe at with paw.
  3. Repeat as needed.

I think those speculating about RTO being a way to push out acquired employees without having to pay severance are spot on! It is suggested that going into the office is good for career progression but it is obvious that for 99% of us Broadcom is where careers go to die.

Ah an office day where everyone attends virtual meetings all day on their devices sat next to each other in the office. True collaboration right there 😂💩

Anyone figure out the bear way to set fire to the office accidentally?

You did it wrong! You are supposed to do a little less work in office to show how work from home is more productive.

But once more people start showing up there will be natural distractions to help lower the productivity.

"If we all return to the office then it becomes easier and cheaper to collect our laptops and phones when they fire us in 2024. No FedEx or UPS required, just hand it over and GTFO."

It would be cheaper by paying less utilities and water useage at the corporate office than saving on shipping laptops and phones.. js lol

It's all a tax scheme in the end

What is the fuss? All of you are only focusing on the displeasure of RTO but have forgotten that all this is just temporary. Massive cuts are coming in 2024. A lot will no longer need to head back in. Focus on the main thing, as the man used to say. Only the main thing is now - layoffs.

You expect sh-t to just pickup where you left off after Hock just acquired you guys? It takes time give it a month or so. Hock needs to first fire off all the useless employees before he assigns any meaningful work.
