Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Personal rant

Unlike sales or other business oriented teams, I work as part of support and while other teams saw their workload slow down as results of the acquisition our team was just bombared with work. It’s weird trying to keep up with all your SR’s while everything around you is changing. You really just want a break but there is none.

In the region where I work we are going through a consultation process so no offers have gone out yet, but I’m taken back by how quickly Broadcom is trying to change everything for vmware employees. Their approach to work in far more transactional than how things worked in vmw, and the quickness with which they gave the return to office mandate was unprecedented.

I really do feel for the vmw employees in the America region. I myself don’t have a car, and public transport is very unreliable where I live. So I can’t imagine coming into office everyday because it’s close to impossible for me. The last few days have been super stressful and intense.

Regardless what happens in the coming months I’ve decided I’m going to give Broadcom the least amount of control over me. I can’t walk over water or move mountains. My personal situation is what it is, I can’t change it overnight. I’ve decided even if i get put on unpaid administrative leave or have to resign, then that’s ok too. My family and health are more important than taking on all types of undue stress and anxiety.

Just felt like sharing because my heart has been heavy last few days and I just wanted to write this incase somebody else is in a similar situation, it might bring them some comfort to know there are others like them too.

@OP your post reaches far and true. Broadcom is destroying an iconic company and culture with no gain to be had for the end user of VMware products.

As someone who has worked in support for a good amount of time and possibly residing in the same zone as you, I feel you. The way I see it, it's literally GSS now who is overworked (as usual) and doing the most of post sales work (as before). PSO as well, to a lesser degree

it is a difficult and major change for the lots of VWWare. However looking at your situation, could you talk to your manager and HR? You might get some time to fix what you can.

I am from Broadcom and it is not so bad in Broadcom as few of the VMware colleagues have expressed.
