lululemon let go of 100 part-time workers who helped answer customer questions by phone, email, and chat.

These workers helped people every day, but the company decided it wants to use only full-time workers for this job instead.

Lululemon says this change will help them do a better job helping customers and make the business run more smoothly.

This is happening while the company is also looking for a new boss and dealing with some disagreements with its founder.

no store closures, just changes to how customer help is done.

Management policy changes

The company decided to pause their AI push, as the low hanging fruit has been harvested, and further adoption requires substantial investment and training. To decrease costs, they now aim to reduce the number of MDs by delegating their work to VPs, reduce the number of VPs by delegating their work to AVPs, and to reduce the number of FTEs in India to Indian contractors.

Anybody have the actual numbers left to layoff?

I remember when this first started ppl had very specific number counts. I guess we are at 9,000 left to lay off for 2026. Can anyone give an insight as to how many of those 9,000 left will come out of divestures and how many will come out of actual reduction of employees and how that number is different from normal years low performers reduction?

Noridian Healthcare Solutions layoffs

On Wednesday, Jan. 14, Noridian Healthcare Solutions announced a reduction in force that affected about 7% of Noridian's employees.

That's according to Cailin Shovkoplyas, communications manager for Noridian, who added that the change is connected to an organizational restructuring that "aligns staffing with current federal funding levels" and positions the company for long-term competitiveness.

What's happening with IOL expats?

What's the latest on the IOL expats? Seems like many of them were in scope and were going to be getting communication, as it sounds like the company wanted to reduce the number of expats. Any updates? Are many of them coming back to take jobs back at sites or the office back in Canada? Staying where they are on expat? I'd be surprised if any of them would be getting let go, but stranger things have happened.

Western College Reduces Staff to Address Budget

Western College recently laid off over 60 employees. This action dissolves about half of these positions and restructures others. The college aims to reduce its budget by approximately $4 million. Budget shortfalls stem from reduced property taxes and reliance on reserves. Impacted employees received 90-day notices and six months of health insurance.

Brian Pieninck announces layoffs

After laying off over 2000 employees in 2025, we were notified in an all hands meeting near the end of November that they were done with cuts "for the rest of the year." During an IT All Hands meeting in December, Brian announced that we should expect a 25-40% reduction in staff due to AI implementation (which they strongly pushed on everyone).

VRP ?

Have any VRP been offered yet ? The last offers were last November almost exactly 1 year ago. In a few weeks they will be on the hook for lots of new 9 % ACH contributions they will have to make every paycheck after the pension plans stop accruing. It would be nice if they could try to use the VRP to reduce the number of people they need to force out of a job and reduce the burden on themselves too.

UBS may cut further 10,000 jobs by 2027

UBS has been cutting jobs as a result of the integration of former rival Credit Suisse, which it bought in 2023.

A reduction of 10,000 jobs would equate to a 9% cut in total jobs for the Swiss bank, which had around 110,000 employees at the end of 2024.

Numbers defined

So latest communication is a reduction in people in all areas of 20% in Q1.
It’s going so well.
Will be interesting to see if that number is applied evenly across both XRX and LKX or if the plan is to just be left with LKX monkeys (who know nothing about digital services and our collective growth engines).
Meanwhile the SLT continue to spend money like water on themselves, pet projects, relocation/moving costs. Java.

PK + EH and next Decision

JD absolutely burned Nike, pure failure no question. His strategy was cost reduction and DTC, no real tech chops as PK hoped, fitting of a consultant. Company value cut in half 2020-2024 during his time!

How does PK wipe the egg off his face after hand selecting JD, demoralizing employees, and scaring off shareholders? Go back to the safety of Nike DNA roots picking EH a former Dallas Cowboy trainer for his friend JJ.

Cronie nepotism at its best. EH is WAY over his head, he’s a salesman not a CEO. Nike has a very uncertain future ahead, it’s worrisome.

What’s next people? More excuses ahead of earnings coming certainly…

Non-Compete and Severance Clauses

For those that are impacted by the reduction in force, please check or have someone go over the severance agreement to see if there's a timeframe set for a non-compete clause. This would include verbiage regarding a timeframe of which you may be illegible for employment by a similar company offering a similar or slightly different role. While some states do have limitations on this, please exercise due diligence.

Example: You may be barred from working in a telecom or similar company for a period of six months before they would consider hiring you. You would go through the whole interview process, but then get hung up during the final selection due to this.
