Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Layoff number expected to be only around 16-18k

What you see in news is vastly exaggerated. Cost reduction target is 20% - achieved through head count reduction in high cost countries -us employees took the brunt.

10k already done ~Sept 25. People seem to have forgotten about that round.

12k March 26.

Smaller numbers quietly layed off Sept - March onwards.

So maybe 5-6k still to go, to get to the estimated 30k for FY26 (June 25 - May 26).

Won’t be huge in EMEA as there are not huge numbers of employees left in most countries. Already cut to the bone or handed to channel in previous rounds. Unless they are retreating from some markets completely?

Analysts & media are using the $2.1Bn restructuring charge from SEC filings for all of FY26 to get to 30k.

Was $1.6Bn in the original SEC filing but they added another $500M in March..

@OP big layoffs are usually never done in one, not mention a lot of European countries require much more notice.

OP, "only" 16-18k... so you don't see this as substantial?

@af From their butt.

But the 30k figure also come from an analyst opinion on what Oracle should do

@ab where are those numbers coming from?

How many do you think occurred in India compared to the USA?
1 to 2000 in INDIA
5000-7000 in USA

This would make sense if the cuts were happening in high-cost countries, but India can hardly be considered a high-cost.
