I'm quiet quitting until the acquisition

I'm well aware that when the acquisition goes through chances of me still being employed are very low. So instead of overexerting myself and doing much more than is my job, I'm going to do precisely what my contract says and no more. Then I'll take... — read more

We work hard for the money...

The individual contributors in the field work hard to bring money in to the company. Sales works hard, SEs work hard, PSO consultants work hard, product engineers work hard, TSEs in GS work hard, and so on. And so it really sucks to see this hard... — read more

VMW Special cash dividend

I'm surprised noone mentioned this cash dividend VMware paid about a year ago now as one of the possible issue we faced. The cash dividend was actually a huge sum like 11Billions mostly gone to DELL shareholders. As the dividend wasn't really... — read more

The first, and last, VMware Explore

Why after all these years, did they change the name of VMworld? Did corporate marketing really think that was going to increase attendance, and brand recognition?

Raghu

Can someone please help me understand what Raghu did over his many years at VMware, that made him worthy of so many promotions, and eventually the CEO position?

Marketing is Toxic

The marketing team at VMware is toxic. That's it, that's the post. Feels like a sorority/fraternity. Loose IQ points everytime I speak with someone from there. I won't be upset if they get the chopping block.

Financial results better than expected

It seems like VMware reported better than expected financial results. Maybe the deal was agreed too fast? What do you think it could have happened to the stock price if the deal wasn't signed? Now stock market is recovering...

It’s gonna be funny

It will be very funny when the acquisition happens and the world doesnt end like some think it will. It’s becoming more and more clear that Broadcom is adopting a different approach evident in the recent EUC showcase. Brain Madden looks like a tool... — read more

Great teams don't just happen

I have been in a new company for some time now. I managed to get a very solid offer, but it's already clear to me that it's not all about the pay. For those who have also left, I'm wondering what you miss the most from VMWare? I definitely miss the... — read more

Ashok Banerjee is leaving. That makes another high level exit. He was in Symantec when Broadcom acquired them and has seen things first hand. And now his exit.

Carbon Black breaking down!!!

It seems the developers have quit too. https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/vmware-carbon-black-causing-bsod-crashes-on-windows/

People need to stop joining VMware

Joining while knowing about the acquisition makes me question their intelligence. The only reason why new people are being brought in at this point is to have enough younger employees they can lay off when the time comes to pad the numbers and avoid... — read more

Broadcom won't change anything "that is working"

Our team just met with one of the many VPs, and they assured us that Hock is super impressed by our BU and he "is not looking to change anything that is working". In fact we are told there is no hiring freeze and we should try to fill as many open... — read more

Part of me cannot wait

Total chaos

What has he done?

I’ve been here for 10 years now and have really enjoyed the job so far, and I had no intention of leaving. A genuine question not meant to stoke the fire, what has Raghu done since he took over from Pat? I genuinely don’t get what he has done or... — read more

Pricing and packaging idiocracy

Watching the "cloud universal" train wreck go-to-market unfolding, one must ask how can a company that has been pricing and packaging software for almost 24 years still be so epically bad at pricing and packaging?

Layoffs have already silently started

Roadmaps have been reprioritized. Cuts are being made especially in departments that are over budget. Contractors are being let go as well as some full time. Brace yourself.
