Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Broadcom VIDEO: Wondering "what's next?" for your career can be both thrilling and a little nerve-wracking in an acquisition.

Marketing agency: How fake do you want it to be
Bcom: Yes.

Wonder how much these people get paid to talk about the stuffs. It sounded like Broadcom guided the entire acquisition process smoothly and these poorly run companies were saved with no casualties. Is VMware employees well informed ? Nope .. all the speeches are about .. everyone stay calm and focus on your works. What about severance package?

I would love to ask the lady from Symantec in the first video a few questions...

  1. How many of your colleagues did you lose, and how quickly?
  2. Do you feel like your customers are getting better software and support, now vs when Symantec was a standalone company?
  3. Did Hock offer a week's worth of work-from-home time for you to do this video?

LOL!!!! If videos like this are meant to calm our fears....good f..ing luck!

Hock has earned every bit of his reputation as a grim reaper. I was here during the Dell acquisition of EMC, and it was nothing like this.

There is no real need to add to these comments... but:

Video 1: People saying they were anxious and had questions. Well, yeah! Notice how nobody said how amazing the acquisition was for them or for those who didn't get to stay.

Video 2: Some of the same actors from Video 1 saying that the money is good. Wow!

Both are insulting to my intelligence. I totally get that VMware's leadership doesn't have much to say yet, but it would be nice to hear things from the executives that are credible, thoughtful, and empathetic to people's concerns.

If a company has to make videos like these then said company is not addressing their own problems. If the reason for making these was to try and prevent the company they are buying from losing its employees who are fleeing then they should ask themselves why those people are leaving. Making a bunch of cheesy videos isn't going to convince anyone and if anything, will merely reinforce the decisions of those who are going elsewhere.

LOL! There are a few of these videos, obviously made for us to watch. NOT convincing! There's another one where a few people who look equally unexcited mention they get " Great compensation" and that's about it. Too late anyway. I'm out of here.

Blink twice for evacuation assistance. That video right there shows the difference between BC and VMware in a minute.
