Thread regarding VMware layoffs

People need to stop joining VMware

Joining while knowing about the acquisition makes me question their intelligence. The only reason why new people are being brought in at this point is to have enough younger employees they can lay off when the time comes to pad the numbers and avoid claims of age discrimination. People joining now will be gone as soon as we become part of Broadcom. They must know that. So why do they keep joining?

I agree and disagree ...

When the acquisition was announced and people joined - I got it - they already resigned from the old job and might not be able to go back or cancel the whole process. So the only option they had was unemployment. But whoever resigns since the announcement and joins vmware needs to check their common sense. And whether you join a team that is profitable or not - no one has the inside so that comment is stupid.

How so? If they've joined teams which are profitable they might be better off than a lot of the people (like myself) who have been here a while and made a stupid decision to move to a emerging tech team...

It's a numbers game for BC, doubt they care if you have been here 2 months or 20 years. If you're role doesn't make sense to them and they can do without, then adios. If you're role makes sense then why would it matter when you started
