VMware Explore opening keynote

What was everyone's impression of the opening keynote at VMware Explore?

I couldn't make it, but I heard everyone applauded for Hock, except for one guy that booed?

Also, I don't know why any customer would applaud Hock as he's about ruin the quality of the software they consume, and charge them 2x for it. Maybe it was just mostly VMware employees that imagine they will still have their jobs somehow if they praise him enough.

Can’t believe they got paid $50 million for that performance.

Remember the days when Steve Herrod use to get up on stage and command the respect of the audience!

Now we have Raghu and Sumit, who barely understand what a container is

Latest numbers I’ve seen were 8.5k attendees. Crazy to think that the last one I attended has 23k in vegas and 13k in Barcelona.

The clapping you heard was from the employees that made up more than half the audience plus another 20% that did not know VMware was being purchased. The employees clapped in fear and the hope Hock saw them and won't cut them in 5 months.

It was terrible. Really... one word to describe it. I'v seen better performance in a 5th grade play. Actually, the McClaren guy was pretty good. His comment about them about to be getting lots of job applications was funny...

Unfortunately, even the keynote presenters know that this was sub-par, to put it lightly. They will try to bring up big numbers in terms of attendance and social media impressions as a cover story. Who can blame them? Would we not do the same if we were them? The bottom line is that VMware has marched into the sunset. You don't get this kind of performance from a company like VMware otherwise. Honestly, this is a sad end to what was once a great company.
