Geriatric Millennials and young Gen X

Almost every single 40 something CL28 I talk to is being told they have executive potential. DO NOT BELIEVE IT! There will be very few promotions to 29+ especially as the company continues to shrink and offshore jobs to the BTC. The company is luring to you because they need you around a little longer while they ramp up the BTC. It is a LIE to keep you working at ExxonMobil until you are older and have fewer options outside the company. By 2030 the truth will become apparent but by that time it will be too late for you to find another job due to age discrimination. Do not believe their lies and do not delay your exit while you are still young enough to find another job and move on. Even a temporary pay reduction is worth it. In a few years you will be making more especially when considering they are planning below inflation raises for the foreseeable future. #Exxodus

Unlikely...but I never thought they would give a mid year retention bonus during #exxodus. It could also open up a can of worm with those that left since then.

Not enough people taking #cubepic for #exxodus combined with influx of personnel from Pioneer and Denbury who were not offshoring jobs to India so have to drive attrition again by not paying competitive wages. Each acquisition means more people to lay off.

With #exxodus by design, there will be no need for layoffs. Once the scourge of the unwilling, weak and whiners are gone and headcount is at the most efficient level. It maximize shareholder value, those who were loyal and pushed through will be reward in the land of milk and honey. All will get a bigger slice of a bigger pie. Well, maybe…

Currently there are more people voluntarily resigning than there are people being fired. This is what people are discussing at the moment the drivers for the #exxodus

Doesn’t happen to all companies. Newsworthy for sure especially in context of the #exxodus as it is likely a driver for many people to leave who recognize it is just a matter of time before the training of their replacement at the low cost country is completed.

Things I didn’t see mentioned yet:
Food and beverage, biogas/solar/wind power, pharmaceutical manufacturing, project management, data analytics.

Don’t believe the doomsayers, there’s lots of other work opportunities out there. #Exxodus does not lead to an unemployment line.

What going on in South America?

All of a sudden there is a flurry of LI #Exxodus posts from our South American colleagues. What's happening in our SA offices? Are any organizations and positions within being sold or sent to MSPs or this is simply people being smarter and jumping the ship before a wreck?

@1jvz+1fqUyWiD You can block things just as much with the app as a browser…they prefer the app because you get notifications which draws you back in, you get more traffic with it. They also aren’t in bed with employers, their monetization structure has nothing to do with employers.

Occasionally comments with full names are removed, but every other post stays there, there’s no censoring really. And most people who left have just kept their XOM login, it doesn’t verify that you currently work at XOM, just that you did when you created the account. There’s people on there who use it instead of creating an account with the new employer, to both see the XOM channel for what’s going on in the company and to help others get out if they do wish. I’ve given referrals to people through there after having left for Amazon and someone through the XOM channel gave me a referral to Microsoft when I was still at XOM.

OP, you can also scout LinkedIn for former employer XOM and current employer FAANG company. It’s not a great way to search, but doable. Or search for #exxodus etc and you’ll find mostly xom employees, then filter by current company for FAANG.

Hardly over. Look on LinkedIn. Many people resigning every day. Too bad more people aren’t using #exxodus to make it easier to follow the numbers.

I just gave notice today. Last day is Feb 28th. #Exxodus

So funny to see ExxonMobil LinkedIn account starts liking interns/new hires posts in the last couple of weeks.

Best of luck to those who still with the company, leavers and joiners.

@bhg+1eZgmWS6 No, they literally are. It’s in the training for the Global Smart Form that supervisors have to submit for every departure. All resignations are considered reason code N0 (Resignation-Regretted), with the exception of things like Death or transfer to a different country. Non-voluntary terminations are not considered resignations and are coded differently.

@bbx — Cube resignation photos are often found with hashtags #exxodus or #thegreatresignation on LinkedIn.

Worker rights and benefits need to be respected. Do we really need an #exxodus situation with former employees posting pics under the sky ring on LinkedIn after they find better opportunities elsewhere? Does our company really think it can deliver digital and low carbon initiatives without millennials? Lol. My vote for our meme hashtag is #CVXodus (has that fast follower flair we’re so fond of), but I guess we’ll see what happens.

Oopsie

I often wonder in Dallas has had a lightbulb moment and said, “Oh damn. What have we done.”

They’ve started something they won’t be able to stop. Call it the #greatresignation or #exxodus either way it is just getting started. Attrition continues to set monthly records in the US. No signs it is slowing down.

I'd love to see the linkedin posts start to use this tag as well #exxodus. Anyone who has already found a job elsewhere willing to start tagging in the comments area on LinkedIn?
