No one is out of the woods, even if they survive this round!

Told by my friend ( band 5) that no one is out of the woods, even if they survive this round next week. They are cutting 25% across all levels now, later teams will be merged, projects will be discontinued and leftovers will be discarded possibly in Q2/Q3. Every one better start looking for oppurtunities outside.

Have they gutted people at the Management/Director Level?

This is where the real corruption lies at Fannie Mae. I was in a department where most of the people were management level or above. A department with 30 plus managers 5 plus directors and very little worker bees. Management level and above had a country club mentality where they all protected each other. If they truly want reform at Fannie Mae that is who they should get rid of. A department usually needs 1 director not multiple directors.

Market Location Strategy paused?

Someone posted last week that there was a pause in Market Location Strategy displacements in Risk (see post titled "Risk Location Strategy"). I've heard something for a different group that was supposed to get their relocation decision letters in November (in advance of being displaced in the coming months), but that was "paused". Does anyone know if there is a larger change to the policy going on?

purge to Compliance forthcoming?

Is there a major round of layoffs about to hit the compliance department? Dan Veale, the global head of surveillance was reassigned to a far less prestigious area of ICRM. Jennifer Taylor, the Chief Compliance Officer of a major unit, has not been seen in the office for weeks. She also no longer has anyone reporting to her as per the global directory, of where till recently had. The Jersey City location is filled primarily with compliance officers, of where Citigroup recently fired a WARN Act with the state of New Jersey, that the bank intends to layoff 70 staff in that location the first week of December. In summary, the combination of an official WARN notice for a location housing compliance staff and the apparent elimination or reassignment of two senior compliance executives makes it highly probable that a major reduction in force is targeting the compliance department. Anyone else observing possible pre positioning ahead of a major change?

Mid Markets getting the boot

Per internal docs it appears that the entire mid market channel (from VP down) will be eliminated due to poor business practices. SMB directors and their teams will be assuming mid market roles and territories. Retail store GMs will be dissolved and stores with low door swings will be closed. This is expected to be announced 11/17-11/21.

Closing NY and NJ HQ and moving to Texas?

Thoughts on this shocking move? If saving money is the long game, then make the move now! Sell the assets. Cancel the contracts. Exit these high tax states. Don’t offer relocation. Eliminate 50% of corporate staff at HQ. If you don’t face a customer or directly interact with those that do, then time to let go. Get rid of the Pelaton marketing crew and turn out the revenue.

This is not a rumor. Just throwing this out there.

There's a LOT of stuff suddenly on pause, in MANY departments.

Necessary follow-up emails are even being halted. Critical meetings - on hold. I've talked to several friends across the company, various departments and the sentiment is the same - uncertainty and "waiting to hear if we have jobs."

It's not healthy and makes me wonder Dan's long term "culture" strategy that he claims is a priority, when the short term has gone south so quickly.

I genuinely thought the environment couldn't get worse than what H created, but it def has, in a quick way :-/

SMB B2B Account Managers On the Chopping block?

Hearing a lot of rumors and basically no department is safe, no position is safe. November 20 is the date I’m seeing and hearing, But I am hearing more than anything that SMB is really on the chopping block. What do we think is going to happen to SMB and B2B? Restructure or just completely cut the channels out and have store reps and managers take care of business?
