Happy New Year !!

Happy New Year to present and former Suncor employees. I, for one, had no idea what was in store for the year 2023. Not Freddie and certainly not losing my job. Here is hoping 2024 will bring us health and happiness.

ER Savings Overpayment

Has anyone else who was layed-off by Suncor been contacted requesting a reimbursement? HR claims that the employer portion of contribution to ER Savings was made in error and they want it back.

Management Decisions on Who to Cut

So in my former department, Suncor made the decision to cut worker-bees. What is left is a GM, Director, Manager, and four Contributors. In this case the Butcher threw away the meat but kept the fat. Winning !!

C’est Finit !!!

Today (December 14) I received my last ever payment from Suncor. I did not work for the company long so my severance was limited. As I look back, I ask myself “Would I have still taken the job if I knew the outcome?” The answer is yes but I... — read more

Sooo easy a child can do it.

I realized just now… any of us can do Rich Kruger’s job. This is the easiest multi-million dollar job anybody can do. This is.not rocket science people. This is just make yourself appear sharp and smart in the public eye. This is play d-mb with... — read more

Sweat the Assets

I certainly would not want to be part of Refining & Logistics (R&L) where the capital guidance is $1.2 Billion to be spread out over four refineries and terminals. With only 20% earmarked for ‘economic’ projects, Freddie is making good on his... — read more

Remember When?

Remember when Charlie Sheen went off the deep end with his “winning”? If not just look it up on YouTube to refresh your memory. Every time I hear Kruger talk about “winning” Sheen comes to mind. Suncor is not winning. Over the past year the stock... — read more

Office Politics

With the stock price hovering around $40, there is a rumour that Rich will not make it to his first year anniversary. Anyone else heard this rumour?

Need a Good Laugh ?

Announcement

Even the announcement that Terra-Nova is back on station and ramping up production can’t help the stock price. Poor Kruger … can’t seem to make any headwind … perhaps his eyes were bigger than his stomach?

Highlights from Q3 Financial Release

Layoffs expected to save $450 million or $1.50 US per barrel. Target is $5.00 US per barrel. Freddie stated the company will now focus on the “corporate side” as it attempts to reduce break even price. So in other words … layoffs will continue in... — read more

Future Employment Opportunities

Watch for postings in late January and March/April. Mass exodus of skilled professionals once RSUs vest and bonuses (if any) are paid out.

Life After Su-k-Cor

I was let go in September. Right now I am a consultant with three small firms. All work-from-home. Bet my Director with nothing but Suncor experience could pull that off.

Anyone know of a commuter who was laid off?

In a bizarre reflection of who got laid off, I realized that all the commuters I know have been mysteriously protected from layoffs. This could be wrong if someone can mention they know of someone. Everyone I know that got laid off has their main... — read more

New Organization Structure

The new organization charts are out. In my department we now have a GM with three reports. One of which is a Director with two. The other is a Manager with one. Third guy has none. Fortunately I still have a job as a contributor.

What’s next after the layoff?

Just wondering what is the next step after the layoff? Accept it, and Jon counselling obviously. We were told this layoff is not a site ban, and we can come back as contractors or Suncor employees if a position open back up. Is anyone going to... — read more

Suncor Stock Price

Suncor stock price is down 3.4% year-over-year while oil prices remain steady. Looks to me like the market is lukewarm on the changes Freddie is making.

Suncor Greed

I came to the realization that I am guilty of greed. I took the position with Suncor a couple years ago for the promise of RSUs. Pay and benefits were low. Suncor did not recognize experience when it came to vacation. Then came Kruger. Those of... — read more

The Plan - Outsourcing

Outsourcing - it should be illegal. It takes away Canadian jobs, and giant corporations get away with paying their employees from India next to nothing. This is WRONG!

Suncor Ethics

At Suncor it is common practice for SCM and Project Management to prepare RFP for some scope of work. They pretend to competitively bid the work but in reality only send it to the preferred EPC (Worley). The justification is that they want to... — read more
