Apparently Rich was very outspoken at Imperial Oil and then departed suddenly in 2019. Interesting … guess that is what Board of Directors was looking for in a CEO.

In his legacy, he resembles Freddy Kruger, slashing costs with ruthless aggression, prioritizing wins over people. Operating as a highly narcissistic CEO, he falls within the 16-18% of CEOs with such traits, compared to the general population's 5%. Despite potential short-term advantages, his rigid approach lacks a positive long-term plan for the company. Instead of adapting to energy transition, he opts for delaying and cutting, focusing on short-term gains at the expense of long-term sustainability. This strategy might boost stock prices temporarily, but it risks compromising the company's lasting success.
Here is a Financial Post article on Doug Suttles at Encana / Ovintiv.

Sadly I believe Rich Kruger will leave a similar legacy at Suncor.
He was let go from Imperial, you think why would they do it? He is similar to Doug Suttles who screwed up things at BP with oil spill (gulf of Mexico)
Can tell he’s controversial just by reading some of the posts on here.
