Speaking as an engineer that was layed-off in July … I would never ever return to Suncor !!
Whatever employee review they did to decide who to eliminate was a big joke. It was close to random and about flipping a coin in some cases. It was so rushed. Yes there was disproportion to those at or near retirement and are paid more but they just cut and trimmed randomly looking at dollars and job positions without rhyme or reason in many cases. It wasn’t based on performance or what people know wasn’t even analyzed. You would think if he wanted Suncor to win, they would create a winning highly skilled team. Why would the company take any risk on cutting some of the top talents? Some of the top talents cut in Fort McMurray… they might not ever be coming back.
And remember what Freddy said? “This is about eliminating work not adding work for those who are left”. Not true. It’s “not about who you know but about what you know”, not true.
So much of what has come out of his mouth so far has been lies to the people of the company. But he’s so confident in what he says that you almost believe him.
Cut 1500? He went way way beyond that.
It’s a blow to the integrity of the entire company.
Regarding the infamous line ” it’s going to be not who you know, but what you know…” How come we still see the same old dysfunctional SCM staff? It just proves that whatever review they did was a BIG JOKE!
