Morgan Stanley layoffs to hit 7 NYC offices
Morgan Stanley will lay off 230 employees in seven of its New York City offices, Citywire can confirm. The dismissals from the New York offices are a part of the firm’s efforts to cut at least 2,000 employees from its 80,000-person global... — read more
June 17th might be the day
Pencil that date in your diaries. It seems to be very small for NYC, can't speak for other offices if layoffs will occur. Seems very targeted and cutting hanging fruit from the last layoffs. This is according to WARN.
Is there another layoff approaching?
I heard that there’s another layoff coming middle of June. Has anybody else heard anything supposedly only in New York but not sure.
Severance payout
Does anyone know how much of your lump some payment is taxed? Example if your severance is 50k would I receive 25k or more/less? Thanks
don't go back here
Toxic, if there was an academy award for toxic, they would win, from management to HR, I worked there for years, it was brutal towards the end when I was laid off. If you did not fit the mold, you were mistreated.
Severance Package
Does anyone know the average severance package in last layoff?
Ongoing layoff buzz
So tired of having to listen to people talk about when is the next layoff, I’m not leaving until I get laid off. I’m leaving now because I can’t wait around until I get laid off. Oh my gosh does this ever end? Well other than when you get actually... — read more
Debt is now being sold.
I think that MS is strap for cash at the moment. https://www.reuters.com/business/finance/morgan-stanley-sell-final-12-billion-x-debt-bloomberg-news-reports-2025-04-24/
Never recommend MS
I would never recommend MS to anyone to work for . How they have handle things is horrible.
MS HAT IN THE MASTERS
DO WE REALLY NEED TO PAY THIS GUY $5 MILLION A YEAR TO WEAR THIS HAT WHEN WE ARE LAYING OFF GOOD PEOPLE EVERY YEAR???
Constant anxiety is eating me alive
Between the endless stress and now layoffs hitting left and right, it feels impossible to catch a break. I don’t know how anyone is functioning right now. The whole situation just keeps getting worse, like we’re all stuck in some awful loop. Really... — read more
On to the next chapter
I’ve been here for over ten years. It’s been tense and exhausting. This job tends to take too much personal time and energy, with little reward or opportunity for advancement. It’s definitely time to move on. I wish the best for all of you. Don’t get... — read more
Layoffs are our new reality
Stop asking if there'll be more. Accept that this is now part of the routine. Acting shocked every time another round happens just wastes energy. You need to adapt or you'll just hurt your own mental health. In all honesty, the only real surprise at... — read more
I'm a bit confused
Are all layoffs done or not? Have 2k people already been let go? It's supposed to be done by the end of March, yet some people are still saying there'll be more in April.
2000 Cuts
Good luck all. Morgan Stanley Workforce Reduction – March 2025 Layoffs Planned: Morgan Stanley will cut 2%–3% of its global workforce (~2,000 employees) by the end of March 2025 Exclusions: Financial advisers are not part of the layoffs ... — read more
Is the UK payout capped?
3 weeks per year I think is usual, does anyone know if it is capped at a number of years? Also what happens if you don't sign the docusign?
This gave me the push I needed
Been considering quitting for a while but always found a reason not to (mostly being too chickenshit to actually do it). Well, that's now done. I've already started looking. I just want out of this place.
Real genius move
Of course the solution is always to gut the team and keep the clueless execs who caused the mess. Decades of experience out the door while the people at the top fail upward like always. Let’s see how that works out this time.
2000 laidoff and 1000 more to come
I saw this in LinkedIn that someone posted.
Age discrimination
I'm hoping there's an age discrimination investigation regarding these layoffs. Way, way, way too many older employees were affected for it to be a coincidence.
Any obvious DEI layoffs?
Just curious.
I was laid off 4 years ago
I was with the firm > 19 years and was given an ok title making slightly north of 200k, while offering 180k base to my new hire, an exhibition of how much loyalty was worth (actually loyalty in HR’s eyes means you can’t find a job elsewhere) I’m... — read more
Past paystub
Are we able to see the past paystubs on adp website? Currently I can’t see anything from ADP. It’s empty.
Friday
Remaining layoffs will be this Friday Is this true or trolling?
Worst HR Ever!!
This company completely has the worst HR handling layoffs. Coming from India. Cant access documents. Can’t talk to a human. Can’t even get a response from email they provide. Management won’t even respond.
How do we return firm belongings after layoff
Does anyone know how we can return firm belongings? HR didn’t ask for my ID badge on Tuesday.
Survivor's guilt
I'm single and in my 30s, with some savings. I'm still here. My coworker in his late 40s with a wife and two kids was laid off. I know it had absolutely nothing to do with me, but I still feel so bad for him and I feel guilty for some reason. Don't... — read more
NYS WARN doesn't apply here?

More work for the rest of us

Anybody get their email yet
As the title per say. Anyway those that survive layoffs don't pi-s off upper manager. If someone gives you a poor 360 review defend yourself. Most importantly review this website ever so often.
Some thoughts about layoff
I feel really frustrated today because some really good colleagues were let go. I don’t think it’s fair to layoff good talents just for cutting cost. Why don’t just cut everyone’s salary by 2% instead of cut 2% headcount? The only thing I learned now... — read more
What percentage of employees were laid off?
Just want to know it is too easy to get laid off or not.
I guess it’s over - at least I hope so
I was lucky this time. God knows how it will turn out the next one. I wish all affected to land on their feet soon.
Are they over?
I heard that most layoffs were this morning, are they now done in the US? I’m in New York, if that matters
Offices affected
Was the Baltimore back office affected?
