Severance

So this is just classic. They laid a ton of people off and the system that we are all supposed to log into to review our severance and search for jobs isn’t working. I personally know over 35 people that aren’t able to login. We all just keep getting told we’re working on your ticket. This is great, get fired on Tuesday. Told the next steps to look for a job and view your details about your severance is to login and it’s still working and nobody can answer any questions. Class act.

Another 100% outage

Thanks to ESRO, all Optum tech teams have to adopt a CloudFlare firewall as the entry point to their applications. As such, this company has now become a single point of failure for all of Optum. If they are down, not only is our website down, but all internal and provider facing applications.

Guess which company went down again today for the second time in the past few weeks?

But of course, im "not a team player" and not "aligned with strategic direction" for raising concerns about vendor lock in and huge increases in systemic risk to the company.

Cloudflare outage

If everything crashes again on Thursday, I swear my heart is going to give out from the stress, because with the total lack of real communication from leadership, this place is the only spot where I can even try to figure out what’s going on. I’m begging the universe not to let this fall apart on D-day, because losing this one source of updates would push the anxiety into a whole different level.

Company profit

I swear to whoever the creator is these execs are d-mb as he-l. Buying cheap platforms for a big a-s org like UHC and the companies it’s bought out plus offshoring to overseas third world countries results in so many tech issues and SD and upper management want to act surprised systems are down.

Azure Outage

Any team that is in Azure is reporting 100% impact. All regions. Azure support helpless on the call. During peak season!

Man, sure am glad we decommissioned Chaska and Elk River and mandated the company go 100x to the cloud!!! What could go wrong?

What a disaster.

VPN Down, Chaos Up

VPN went out awhile back — word is Charlotte teammates working from home and the “permanent” telecommuters decided to come into the office with their kids in tow (because who needs childcare when you’ve got badge access, right?).

Naturally, it turned into a full-blown security circus

Big thanks to leadership for taking the lesson to heart and rewarding us with a 5-day-a-week RTO in January. Appreciate y’all alpaca-ing us back to the office.

Question to IT about our data center

About 10 years ago we launched 2 new data centers. When JF took over as a CEO, I heard someone in IT saying JF wants everything to go to external cloud.

In light of today’s AWS outage, what do IT people think of JF’s view and the danger of external cloud service?

Are we still using the 2 data centers?

how long before OCI has a outage like AWS today?

I'm kind of thinking it happens soon. Oracle is laid off so many talented smart people, they've terrified the remaining people with talk about how AI is going to replace them or they're going to get laid off, and they're driving away any kind of decent talent from ever applying...

it turns out being a greedy psychopath a--hole id--t is really expensive

who needs redundant systems?

T-Mobile hit by AWS Outage

Along with Microsoft, Delta and others who rely on Bezos the Bozo for connectivity, T-Mobile is suffering with this AWS outage. There's quite a number of services in industry and government that rely on this backbone.

So glad T-Mobile outsourced a bunch of its connectivity. They can just point at Bozos.

Huge Global Outage

“We can confirm significant error rates for requests made to the DynamoDB endpoint in the US-EAST-1 Region. This issue also affects other AWS Services in the US-EAST-1 Region as well."

No failover? Come on.

The following AWS services have been affected by this issue:

AWS Global Accelerator
AWS VPCE PrivateLink
AWS Security Token Service
AWS Step Functions
AWS Systems Manager
Amazon CloudFront
Amazon DynamoDB
Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud
Amazon EventBridge
Amazon EventBridge Scheduler
Amazon GameLift Servers
Amazon Kinesis Data Streams
Amazon SageMaker
Amazon VPC Lattice

Travel chaos as FAA orders ground stops for two Dallas airports over phone company outage (AT&T):

Travel chaos as FAA orders ground stops for two Dallas airports over phone issue:

Dallas’ two major airports were thrown into chaos Friday afternoon when the Federal Aviation Administration issued ground stop orders after controllers “lost all radar and phone communications,” according to officials and reports.

Dallas Love Field and Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport were both under a ground stop and a ground delay for several hours after communications equipment malfunctions popped up just after 4 p.m. local time, according to the FAA.

Love Field experienced on-and-off ground stops which were finally lifted for good just prior to DFW getting the all-clear later Friday night, FAA data showed.

“The FAA is slowing flights at Dallas Love Field and Dallas-Forth Worth International Airport due to a reported local telephone company equipment issue that does not involve FAA equipment,” the flight safety agency said.

AT&T is the primary telephone and telecommunications company providing service to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), including its complimentary Wi-Fi. The partnership between DFW Airport and AT&T involves providing a comprehensive wireless platform (CWP) to enhance connectivity and critical infrastructure for the airport.

EJ App/Online Access Outage

I can't log into online access to see my accounts via the app not the website. I expected things to break but I figured it would be internal processes and products...not a client facing outage with no communication. Does anyone have more info on when this will be fixed?

Is IT Capable of Testing Precisely Outages, and Their Locale, in "Real Time" ?

Is there a way that either AI or, existing, non-Artificial Intelligence (NAI?) could indicate useful info?
If I could at least tell our customers, as well as the outside technician hunting down the trouble spot that, "All customers south of the utility pole at Main Street and Park Avenue are OOS."
and add to the outside technician's log, "Likely trouble spot possibility via our ever-vigilant 24-hour test monitoring personnel."

Verizon down for tens of thousands of users across the US

Verizon experienced a nationwide outage this afternoon leaving tens of thousands customers across the United States unable to send texts or make calls.

Reports of cell service outages began at around 12pm ET on Saturday, according to Down Detector.

There were almost 24,000 outage reports catalogued on the site, which tracks interruptions of service for many different companies.Countless outraged customers said on social media that their phones were stuck on SOS mode.

Verizon has said it is aware of the issue and apologized to those affected.

'Our engineers are engaged and we are working quickly to identify and solve the issue, Please visit our Check Network Status page for updates on service in your area,' a spokesman said.

'We know how much people rely on Verizon and apologize for any inconvenience. We appreciate your patience.'

Nexidia

So anyone know specifically why Nexidia hasn’t worked all week? They keep telling us that there was some ingestion issue and that they’re working on it but that type of issue has historically only had a few hour turn around - not days. Has their cheapskate behavior finally come to bite them?

United Airlines Outage?

Is this DXC's fault? Or more an issue of running infrastructure from the 1970's????

The Unimatic system is used by airline United Airlines to store flight information, with the system going down on Wednesday for reasons as yet unknown. The company confirmed that the outage was not due to a cybersecurity issue.
