This place is a total dead end. I know I'm working toward nothing. I can't get invested or make myself care. My team is good, and they're the only reason I do my part. But it's getting harder by the day.

What’s the point?
No opportunity for progression and no pay raises. Thats the whole point of working right?
The job is mind numbingly boring, it drains the life out of you and opportunities are limited to a select few.
The people are great but that’s the only benefit, it’s good to gain experience but don’t stay here for the long term, the only positive on the overall situation is that everyone is in the same boat.
For all I care, they can lay me off tomorrow
I accepted a long time ago that this job is a dead end. I'm ready. I'll figure something out.
Stay away from telecom
Any person, young or old, should steer wide of telecom which is a capital intensive business subject to large bo-m-bust cycles resulting in ever present layoffs and dead end careers. Ever since the IT people took over in the early 2000s, it's been an endless rip and replace operation and a meat grinder for anyone employed in it. You'll get worked long hours for stagnant pay then kicked out the door on a whim.
Good advice from @qq+1kpkaw8fk.
Careers died decades ago
The whole idea of having a real career at Wells Fargo pretty much disappeared around the turn of the millennium. Nothing’s changed since then.
No growth, no security, no point
You get stuck in your role here with no real path forward. Management doesn't care what you contribute. Strong reviews and extra effort mean nothing when they decide you cost too much. The layoffs come for everyone eventually. Only come here if you have absolutely no other choice.
Stuck and miserable
I feel like I'm wasting away here. No growth, no recognition, no point. Just dragging myself through each day. I'd leave in a second if I had anywhere to go. Truist is making me hate everything.
Regret majoring in tech
Should have went for something that wasn’t going to have me stuck in a dead end contract software developer/full stack developer role in a sector that’s full of layoffs.
No meritocracy at BNY
BNY has never been about performance, it’s always been who you know. I left years ago because I got tired of the dead-end grind and the constant politics. The culture is still toxic and unprofessional, and anyone still there should take a step back and see what they’re really part of.
Where’s the motivation?
My job is to sit in a seat for ~8 hours.
Dead end tech
Honeywell is a direct road to career obsolescence. Five years as an engineer and the most modern thing I have seen is a windows 7 controlled robot.. that doesn’t work.
AI… forget about it. You think you’re going to get a modern video card on that six hundred dollar laptop budget?
Meanwhile you hear rumors and stories of gleaming buildings in Asia where everyone has a phd and works for lunch money. All the best tools and a bus ride home.
Thinking of taking that offer? There is a reason Honeywell is the only one hiring. Tech job equivalent of a garbage picker.
Run and leave Honeywell off your resume if you can.
