Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Where’s the motivation?

My job is to sit in a seat for ~8 hours.

I'm motivated.
That's why I quit.

My neighbor who works at Cisco just started 2 days a week RTO last month. Mouth dropped when I told him IT professionals, no matter how many certs or advanced degrees, were being tracked using the Presence report. So there might be greener grass somewhere.

News Flash! Employees across the spectrum are experiencing the same burnout, exhaustion and worry that exists at ATT. Ask anyone from other companies how things are...it will sound very similar. RTO, too few people, changes no one can keep abreast of, small raises, etc, etc.
American corporations have always had a culture of managing by fear. Now it's more prevalent because everyone is concerned about keeping a roof over their heads. And opportunities are few and far between. This is how America handles its workers... And....
The grass is NOT better on the other side. It's just a different type of grass.

There is no motivation. We’re all just seat warmers. Everyone’s had enough. The only ones still working at 100% every day are those stuck waiting on their pension because they don’t have a choice. Everyone else is quietly job hunting or just doing the bare minimum to get by.

RTO and COBC “violations” are just tools to push people out without paying severance. The hypocrisy is unbelievable… teams overseas still work from home, but we’re told we have to be in the office for “collaboration.” Collaboration on what? Conference calls?

People are exhausted, burned out, and completely disconnected. If leadership really wants to save this company, it starts by ending the RTO madness. Bring back trust, flexibility, and respect, or watch the rest of your best people walk out the door.

People respond to the incentives provided. Leadership is getting what they wanted. Give it to them good and hard.
