Well I got a 5 minute meeting on the calendar. Wasn’t going to wait until Thursday, so just called my manager and got the news. I’m apparently the 10th one they’ve told already this morning.. Band 7 is getting hit the hardest it looks like.

How many weeks of severance based on band level?
If you’re part of the 2/19 layoffs with a final termination date of April 25, how many weeks severance are you receiving after April 25? The documentation shows minimums for each band level. For example 16 weeks min for Band 4. Have other Band 4s all received 22 weeks or does your number of years at Cigna add on (in pairs of 2 weeks) to the 16 weeks?

So, Arvind announced the GDP numbers last week… 0% for low, 3.4% for core and 6.8% for the top. Percentages will go up for 2026 to 5% for core and 10% for the top. That’s for bands up to 9.

For what it’s worth, I’m a retired PEP guy who unfortunately had to participate in a few layoffs. In the five or six major ones I went through I can NEVER recall looking at specific salaries or ranges. You normally were just given a target, and they were worth a generic amount (I.e.. an L-8 is worth $x, a Band1 is worth $y, etc.). Doesn’t make it any more humane or appropriate, but just sharing that unless things have changed in the past few years you don’t need to stress specifically on what your exact salary amount is. What's up with HTHD / Sal grade 2
Appears to be arbitrary in that folks with less technical work than me have it, folks equivalent to me in technical work have it, some folks that are more technical than me don't have it, some orgs hand it out like candy and others like mine seem to distribute it with a tight hand like its a promotion. Doesn't seem to make any sense and wondering if anyone can shed light on it.
Just a shame something so arbitrary can have a significant impact on compensation
