Mike sends email he is retiring
In a surprise move, Mike sent out an email to everyone in the company today saying that he is retiring. He indicated that the company is searching for a new CEO Here's hopung that we find one that the market loves and their stock surges again!
Mike is out
Can't say I'm surprised. Wonder if that means we really are gearing up for an acquisition
Five9 Stock
The nose diving Five9 stock could best be described by Gordon Gekko, a dog with fleas.
Beware of "Anonymous" surveys
The so-called anonymous surveys are anything but that. They know who you are and will deal with you accordingly.
I miss Rowan
During his 4 years tenure, this dude made more good for Five9 than Mike Burkland during the decade.
Layoff and sale rumors intensify as three execs are ousted
Five9 ousted three senior executives, signaling potential turmoil within the cloud contact center leader, a source told CXToday. The decision is paired with speculation that the broader staff will experience layoffs and the growing speculation that... — read more
Fire the CPO
This guy has no idea how to build products to remain competitive. Mark my words this will be the biggest bottleneck towards any growth, market traction etc that we might ever have as a company.
All hands major fumble
Mike is the King of double speak when asked if there were more rifs planned he immediately said NO then immediately followed it with it depends on bookings! He was asked where we were when it came to profitablity goals that would help us avoid future... — read more
Five9 a recruiter's dream
Was contacted by a recruiter yesterday and chatted with them about what's happening at Five9 and they said that it's a well known fact that most people here are trying to get out because of the unstable situation at the company.
Stability in Product Engineering? Leadership says yes. Reality says otherwise.
Product Engineering leadership says its structure will be maintained. Until when? At this point, it’s impossible to trust anything leadership says. One moment everything is fine, then suddenly there are "challenges," and then it’s just for... — read more
All Hands for What???
If you could ask Mike/estaff a question at the All Hands, what would it be? Since we can’t even post an anonymous question for the meeting, let’s hear from those that have valid questions and concerns. Maybe someone will see them.
The only thing that changes after layoffs is the workload
When we lose people, especially those in critical roles, there’s no real follow-up or plan to fill the gaps. The work doesn’t go away, it just gets dumped on those of us who remain. Managers aren’t looking for efficiencies, they’re simply... — read more
Execs got canned this weekend
I had a meeting this morning with Tricia the CPO of Five9, but was told that she is no longer with a company. Rumor is that several people got let go this weekend including high-level EVPs.
If only we had a board
Most companies with an independent board would have fired Mike by now, given his abysmal performance and the collapse of the company's stock. But since Mike controls the board, we have little to no chance that he'll ever be removed.
Is anyone else going through the motions?
Since the last big layoff the work on my plate and the toxicity from my manager is quite high with very high expectations. Is it just me? I feel guilty that sometimes I can’t do all of the work being thrown at me.
What about the future of Porto?
What about the future of Porto?
Thoma Bravo
There was a rumor that Thoma Bravo was inspecting Five9 for possible purchase. Is that still true? Any idea of timing?
Leadership is running this place into the ground
How are we supposed to care about the work when leadership clearly doesn’t? They keep gutting teams, rewarding incompetence, and pretending everything’s fine while the product falls apart and clients grow angrier by the day. Nepotism runs deep. If... — read more
Depressing Hiring Page
https://www.five9.com/jobs Take a look (there are 3 pages), Engineering is hiring 99% in Chennai, India or Porto. The executives and AlixPartners are pawning off American jobs for offshoring. They're literally selling out America's future. It... — read more
Any idea when the next round might hit?
Not that there’s much left to cut. But clearly they don’t have a smarter solution to our problems.
Toxic environment part of the plan
Mike is purposely creating a toxic environment at Five9 as is evidenced by the results of the last employee survey. His plan is to get as many people to leave on their own as possible so they don't have to pay this average packages. That way you can... — read more
You are being replaced
Five9 is replacing pretty much every department with cheap Indian labor. I predict there will be a mass mass layoff removing everyone in the US with some execs left in the USA. The investments into massive Indian offices means it’s time to bounce... — read more

Fireside Waste of Time

Five9 offices are completely abandoned
Everyone is too demoralized to show up to the San Ramon office. The building is almost completely empty with e staff offices being the most vacant (obviously they care the least). What is the point of having an office, perhaps we could save a layoff... — read more
Who do we blame?
There are still a lot of good professionals here at Five9, i want to preface by saying that. However, some high profile leaders (new and old) have let us down. The next 12 months will make or break us. We can rally and stay relevant or die. It’s that... — read more
It’s me,
Hi, I’m the problem, it’s me.

Yea I spoke with the CPO for the first time a couple days ago. His days are probably pretty numbered. His ego is absolutely on a different level. Not approachable. Had no clue how certain orgs work, fights with sales and customer success. He acted... — read more

Another layoff
I don’t think you can fire your way to success.
Product clown’s latest failure
We lost the head of UI and I think some designers and product managers during layoff today.
Run if your company has an active channel on TheLayoff
Before the inaugural layoff, there were two posts on TheLayoff for Five9. It's obvious that if there is an active board for your company on this website, run. No one is here for sunshine and ponies. Employee surveys are abysmal because of... — read more

Five9 Lost
Five9s Senior Management is completely lost. They have no plan to get the stock back above. It's high of 200 per share. They keep hiring EVPs and letting workers go keep outsourcing internal positions to India which is a complete waste of time.
