Let’s share some here. Real ways to get through a layoff, since many people here are very worried.

QCI randomly scheduled for Thursday.
Like many folks at Fidelity, most people don’t have a separate QCI meetings but those managers randomly schedules a QCI this Thursday can only mean one thing. RIF. The RIFs have been verified by multiple sources who have access to high level... — read more
Word of advice from a layoff survivor
Not here to contribute to saying a layoff is/isn’t gonna happen. That being said, I took 0 hours of PTO when I was laid off. I was surprised when I had my PTO hours paid out to me in cash. That and equity all paid out to me in a lump sum for each... — read more
There’s a 0% chance 10% will be cut
Anyone have any realistic estimates of how many will be impacted by the alleged layoffs this week?
Are we really getting notified this week?
The consensus seems to be this Thursday. I haven't heard much beyond that. If the rumors are true, does anyone know which orgs or roles are on the block?
Overpaid people are covid hires?
So is the firm just cleaning up the unqualified people that were promoted over being fired during the pandemic? Those are the only people I know who are overpaid. Everyone else doesn’t make what they’re worth
Personally they kind of waived this mandate to FT RTO
By being 6 years into this. Some were hired as hybrid, and yes I know a company can change their business model whenever they want, but it also breeds bad faith and discontent. Many people were hired as hybrid or having spent 6 yrs wfh have built... — read more
What if a people manager is being let go
Would they make them axe people on their team first, then they are cut? lol I want to be in those meetings
Five years too many
I've been here five years and the last five have been miserable. If they offer a package, I'm gone the same day.
Stress seems more about RTO
Management in my BU looks mostly upset about having to come back to the office. No one really seems to think there will be layoffs. It makes me feel better that the leaders are also unhappy about having to come back to the office.
Layoffs would mean someone would have to actually plan something
We all know that’s not happening.
Can we get severance as lump sum so it doesn't affect unemployment?
This varies by state, but in my state (Ohio) severance pay is deductible income that will reduce unemployment benefits 1:1. Does anyone know if it's possible to negotiate having the severance assigned entirely to the week of separation so that we can... — read more
Any new word this morning
Looking to see if any word. I’m scared.
Will she retire?
She is 64. Will she retire soon? Maybe things will get better then? 🤞
Why RTO for groups not impacted by rif
It seems like the roles impacted are only tech and agile. What would be the reason to bring the whole company back other than phones, if there’s no RIF impact? Based on what’s posted here if there’s so many groups with zero impact. Why make... — read more
I’m not leaving without being laid off
They want us to quit? Guess what, you’re stuck with me until you lay me off 🤣
I don’t believe layoff posts
There’s no way fidelity will layoff a significant portion of the staff. Abby doesn’t want to let her friends go. The tech teams might be impacted, but with no vbo, how likely is it that there will be layoffs.
Full RTO has exactly one advantage
I will never be available outside office hours again.

I will be going like a free spirit

Zero motivation
I have zero motivation Since the announcement to return to office. I did very little between then and now and it will be the same all next week. Anyone else?
Reverse Diversity
The concept of “reverse diversity” came to me during this chaotic RIF and ReOrg. Apart from architects and data scientists, it is the third problem Fidelity must fix. If you have a team with 100% African Americans in... — read more
No impact
My department has a lot of deadweight and has been toxic/hostile since the start of the pandemic. I was hopeful there would be some clean up with the RIF but it doesn’t seem like we’re part of it since most of us are low level. The head of my... — read more
Question that comes from ignorance…
Hi, I don’t work at the firm anymore. I heard that phone positions only need to come to the office one week a month. I am unfamiliar with what phone rep people deal with, but I know they deal with a LOT of crazy stuff. So, salute to you guys. That... — read more
PHASE ONE
Has anyone received any reliable information on how long Phase One will last? In the 900 building in Smithfield, it’s a total nightmare. Not enough bathrooms, desks, parking spots, takes 30 minutes to get off campus, etc - and that’s just for 50/50... — read more
Architects & Data Scientists
When the dusts of current RIF and ReOrg settle, architects and the data scientists are the two most costly and counter-productive roles that needs the closest scrutinies. **The existence of those helicopter architects is the... — read more

I keep hearing the spotify model is dead. Nobody talks about what we are moving to, just what we are running away from. Please tell me not back to waterfall.

Best info got so far -- Decision on consolidaitos of roles across the firm.
This is what we were told : Sr leadership are moving toward consolidating developers into larger teams (minimum of 10-15 people) rather than smaller squads. At the leadership level: VP-level Squad Leaders overseeing non-prioritized projects, small... — read more
$600 M Savings with 10 % RIF
Checked with claude, they may save $600 M per year ongoing basis if they get rid of 10 percent people. They are paying double for Mainframe and Cloud. Also schwab is much leaner at just 35k employees. They may want to hire talented developers who... — read more
Genuine question asking what COULD happen. Might sound stupid
This talk of going back everyday, it’s simply trying to downsize the firm. No way around that. What if the Johnson Je-k Circle realizes this is a really painfully bad idea some time into 2027 when they’re already executing it. There’s a reason only... — read more

Confirmed 5% RIF including Dinosaurs who would be forced to retire.
I think there’s a whole lot of BS going on.
I don’t think there’ll be massive layoffs. Big ones are in the news like Meta dumping 8000. This is not a big RIF. My dept is barely hanging on with work we’re so slammed, so there’s no way there’s cuts. Not at the level going on here with... — read more
RIF notice timeline
Anyone have info on how long they will give those who are laid off to stay in their role? I know sometimes it’s security walking people out that day, other times you can work for a few more months while you try to find another job.
Are the rifs just left over agile roles
Does anyone have any real information if there will be a layoff? I checked the WARN sites for most of the states with regional centers and there aren’t any announcements.
Why Architects always survive RIF?
I was told Architects are so special and loved by sr leader that they always survive RIF
