I don’t. I think it’s reasonable to expect more is coming.
Layoffs and Dell
Worked at Dell for over 25 years. A couple of things are consistent, continued pressure to maintain and increase the stock price and layoffs, When the stock price goes down and stays there for a while - expect actions of some sort to happen. A few... — read more
Updates to hybrid policy.
Not to be lost in all the layoffs, there were comments in certain posts a week or two ago about updates to the hybrid policy coming this month. Something about # of hours in office being tracked to prevent coffee badge swiping. Any news on this or... — read more
Remote vs Hybrid
It’s cool that Dell specifically stated that hybrid workers would be at less risk of layoffs than full time remote workers, then proceeded to just wholesale lay off 12,500 employees without regard for that statement. Very trustworthy leadership. — read more
Getting leaner?
Why does Dell need 2 Presidents of sales?? Scannell and Byrne?? Let’s start at the top
Dell total number of employees in 2024 was 120,000
I hear dell plans to get this down to 100k by the end of the year? That's another 15k WFR on top of what we have so far this year? With only 30k in USA, should we just move the company to India ? Russians need access to DELL hw - this is the best... — read more
F U N
Has anyone else noticed that the new talking point from management is “go have fun!”? Like seriously? Go Have Fun? You just executed a bloodbath of a layoff, glossed over it, the stock is tanking and morale amongst everyone I talk to is pretty much... — read more
The true cost of layoffs
When companies cut staff, they don’t just have to pay severance, but face other expenses that haven’t been fully calculated—until now. https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2024-cost-of-layoffs-quantified/
It feels like it's not over yet
I don't think I'll be able to relax before the weekend.
Here's the reality. Dell continuously gets outmaneuvered by competitors.
The Broadcom/VMWare fiasco has decimated a lot of Dell products. The #1 HCI on on market, VxRail, is essentially on life support. Customers have wanted to buy, but they can't because Broadcom has a strangle hold on licensing. VMWare has been... — read more
Has everyone in the US been notified for this round of Layoffs?
Will there be more layoffs this week? I dodged the bullet so far. Is there more to come before the end of the week?
Spain package feedback
I see some of the Madrid office let go yesterday. Any possibility you can share what the package was? Is it only statutory?
What is typical WFR package looking like for this last round Anyone impacted care to share?
Not sure if the packages vary with each round but curious what it looks like for this round if you been on board for example, 5, 10, 20yrs? Is it standard across the board? If you've been recently impacted, know it's not a reflection on you... — read more
No margin in Dell AI server business
Super Micro reported 11% gross margins. They are driving prices down and Dell can't compete on cost structure it appears, hence the layoffs and new GTM strategy. How bad is the EMC storage biz after losing VMWare distribution business? Imagine EMC... — read more
Super Micro gross margins down to 11%. Driving all margin out of Dell AI server business
There is no margin in Dell server biz (maybe even loss leader with Super Micro driving down prices) and EMC storage biz is suffering market share losses and lost key distribution agreement from VMware.
Layoffs is just reflection on poor decisions of C-level
There is nothing more to it Just once someone could own it and say - " we sorry ,we messed up"
Human Experimentation
This layoff has nothing to do with what they say the reasons are. It is an experiment to gather data on employee behavior, after-effects and continued monitoring of those laid-off, etc for the purpose of training some AI model.
I have a feeling...
No proof, no insights, just a feeling this reorg might end the Michael Dell era. Not because people will move him out or are not happy with him, but just because he is done with the company. Realised his dreams and want to start a next chapter... — read more
When people you wouldn’t trust with watering a plant
make decisions impacting thousands of livelihoods and a huge, once very relevant corporation, all you get is a mess. I’m convinced none of the layoffs and cuts are being made with the future in mind, just with immediate issues on the market. It’s all... — read more
Slow news out of Ireland
Does anyone know anything about Ireland redundancy? And would you mind letting me know what the package is. I’m preparing myself to get notified.
Next round
Havent made this round. What are the thoughts on when the next round will be? In UK sales.

Remote vs Hybrid
So…for anyone that was cut (my apologies, hope your ok) Did Dell use hybrid vs remote when considering the cuts or was it just slash anyone and everyone they could?
No HR on the line?
Who else was laid off without HR on the line? I was shocked when my supervisor started reading a script to me and there was no one else on the call. Shouldn’t at least a third-party be included?
12,500 let go yesterday
In one day, 12,500 families lost their livelihoods. In a single day. Do you think somebody at the top cares about any of that? Does any single one of them feel even a slight discomfort after ruining so many lives? I know, that's too much to ask for... — read more
Affected teams
I'm going to assume that the teams that were affected yesterday are safe going forward?
Is Dell targeting older workers?

More RIFs this week, or will they continue on Mondays?
