Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Layoff of contract employees

They aren’t calling it a layoff but really it is. Contract employees are no longer being renewed. Half of S&AS is gone with more to follow in the next couple of months as their contracts end. 6 years of working without the benefits and let go without the severance.

I mean, I guess you can call it a layoff but it's the nature of the job, it's a gig and should never be meant for long or mid-term

Never contract same place for consecutive years.
Idea of contract work is short gigs, many places.

You would have built out a better network and prob have had several offers to go FTE

this is to be expected, frankly im surprised there are still some contracters around for 'core' jobs.

the upside is higher pay/lower taxes (in most countries). the downside is no benefits and less security. it comes with the gig.

They did this in professional services 5 months ago. Dell team is almost not a thing anymore
