There’s nothing in the world that can make you be motivated and work hard than the axe swinging around your head for months. It also helps that people around you are being let go left and right, and that your team has been in a state of chaos. Whoever came up with the idea to conduct layoffs in such a manner never cared about productivity and results.

Remember the aim is to AVOID crises, not to manage them. An organization that gets good at crisis management will always be in a state of crisis.
Instead, focusing on employees and their well-being would ensure that everything else falls into place. But maybe I’m old school.
but wait, MD posted on linked in Sept 16th, about creating chaos oops I mean a “crisis” to promote change and progress. sheesh we are doomed.
You’re absolutely right. Nothing ki-ls motivation and productivity faster than working under constant threat. The stress of seeing colleagues let go and dealing with chaos around you doesn’t create a productive environment; it creates fear and anxiety. It’s clear that whoever planned these layoffs didn’t consider the long-term impact on morale and performance.
Correct. They care about profits. Penny pinching is in Dell’s DNA. But I think they greatly miscalculated this time and are going to pay for it. The problem is we don’t know if they made more from the constant pump and dump. Personal profits for the corrupt guys at the top is the only thing they’re counting.
