Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

I’m just going through the motions

I don’t know what's going to happen first, me getting laid off or me managing to find something new, but in either case, I will be out of Dell. Knowing that there’s not much pushing me to give my best effort.

I did lots of job hoping in the 80’s and early 90’s to get my salary up. Then as i was approaching 40yo I started looking for a place to park myself until retirement and stuff away as much money as possible. It worked out well for me at EMC and then Dell. Earlier this year I got tired of chasing a package and decided to quit and start retirement.

Turned in a solid quarter and can’t even be happy about it. Our commissions are pathetic and now with RTO that money more or less goes completely to Gas and wear and tear on my vehicle. Never been a worse time to work for Dell.

The real underachievement is those who put in 10-20y at dell.
Talk about wasting away.

There will be people who post "Don't leave without a package". Well I will say as soon as you find another job (even Walmart Greeter) then jump and don't bother with giving 2 weeks notice. Most of those laid off were told on a Monday that Friday was their last day. So tell Dell on a Thursday that Friday is your last day. You don't owe them anything.

Good Luck.

Everyone else is too. There is absolutely no reason to do more than that. There are no incentives and zero stability.

Walmart has better stability and more incentive to do better.
