Expecting an offer for a pricing role

Have just gone through all rounds of interviews and expect to get an offer for the pricing role for the EUC business. I’m an external hire and potential total comp increase for me is more than 2x. I’m young and less risk averse in general What’s... — read more

Unsolicited offer ... For sure.

I don't think it was an unsolicited offer. The relationship between Silver Lake, Michael Dell and Hock Tan should be investigated. All: say "Thank you Michael." On the other hand... Broadcom is a hardcore shareholder value focused company and I do... — read more

We caused this to ourselves. Stop blaming others...

The writing was on the wall. Other than vSphere, majority of our additional product revenue is from acquisition. NSX, vSAN, vRealize, etc. We gotta be adult enough to face the fact that we should have innovated. We had a lot of CTO, PE, Senior Staff... — read more

VMW and AVGO is like different planets

I definitely don't want to stay long and I'm already looking for a new job. Those with more experience - which company has the corporate culture most similar to VMW?

Profit is ALWAYS the end goal

It's funny how many people are shocked that Broadcom will slash all the costs and lay off thousands of people once it takes over. Give me one good reason why that shouldn't happen. They're not buying VMware out of the goodness of their hearts. They... — read more

37 K people company will be erased!

I just realized how big VMware is . I joined few month ago and now looking for a job . I can’t believe that such big company will be almost completely erased ! But it’s true .

Non-US Locations

The discussions so far have been focused on the US workforce. Would anyone have information of what BC did with offshore offices and teams in CA and Symantec after those acquisitions? Our teams are large in Costa Rica and India (primarily, Bangalore)... — read more

To EUC or Not EUC

What’s peoples thoughts on what Broadcom will do with EUC post acquisition ? Vmware historically had challenges with Core selling EUC. It’s profitable and is setting the precedent for ARR but is that enough? Do you think Broadcom will keep it or... — read more

Lots of open positions

I personally would not advise anyone to apply here now. There are many open positions, but I do not believe that there will be many applicants for those jobs. Perhaps only those who have no other options?

A fictional note from Hock

Dear Valued Employees: I have read the comments posted on this site and can say without any reservation that most of what you are here is accurate. I personally don’t care about Diversity. If you do your job well, your gender is irrelevant to me. ... — read more

VMware ESPP Employee Share Purchase Plan

Will our previously purchased ESPP shares be guaranteed the $142 per share at some stage as per the broadcom buyout agreement or is that only guaranteed to the primary shareholders such as Dell and Silverlake. Wondering should I now cash in at $129... — read more

They want you to quit

They do. That's why there'll be little to no info in the weeks to come and that's why you'll be hearing more and more horror stories going forward. If you quit, you're making sure they save on your severance. I'm not going anywhere until they pay me... — read more

How picky are you while job hunting now?

I am very concerned about layoffs and hiring freezes in the industry in general and I have already submitted several applications. I'm not that picky either. Once I had to look for a job after I lost my job and it wasn’t a nice experience at all. I... — read more

"Be patient and see what happens"

It angers me that leadership is urging us to be patient and see what happens before we decide to quit. A little selfish, isn't it? Is leadership thinking that we are so foolish that we will wait until the last day to find out what will happen to... — read more

Informative post

BC stated at the time of purchase that they wanted to reduce operating costs from 2.1 Billion to 900 million (almost 60%). Not hard to figure how that gets done. CA let 8% go about 6 weeks before the acquisition to clean up the balance sheet. That... — read more

I'll welcome the change

Despite so many of you pivoting since the merger announcement and calling VMware a great place to work, some of us still know that's not true. VMware has toxic culture and environment that is driven by fear and characterized by finger-pointing. If... — read more

There are many open jobs

VMW is hiring and I guess those who applied before they found out about the acquisition are now quite discouraged. Who would come here now after hearing the news of acquisition? I certainly would never apply to VMW at this point.

Special CSMs

People have talked about customer success but only about tam. I think people are forgetting we give free CSMs based on spend to customers. They don't bring in revenue. What happens to them in this new world? I suspect free isn't in Broadcoms... — read more

Look at the silver lining

At least we know that we're safe until the acquisition is finalized. There'll be no major moves made right ahead of the deal, as nobody wants to rock the boat right now. So look at the next few months as a rare chance to enjoy some job security, even... — read more

NCG Future?

My kid is currently going through the recruitment process for a role in the Inside Sales facility in Austin. He’s still super keen (VMware his first choice as a friend is already there), but I think he’d be better off switching all his efforts into... — read more

VP Retention Bonus

I’ve heard that in a special ‘Town Hall’ last week that all VMware VPs (regardless of tenure) were advised that they’d be getting a significant retention bonus for ‘navigating’ the rest of us through the acquisition. That sucks for those of us in... — read more

Wake Up American IT workers!

If you don’t do anything today, most likely you will be working for Infosys, Cognizant, HCL, Tech Mahindra, Accenture, Tata consulting and you are not going to like it! You are too busy watching NFL, NBA and these companies are taking over your jobs... — read more

Don't count on your unique knowledge to save your job

Since I have previously worked for a company that has been bought out, I know from experience that many of those who think they are critical to the operation of the business still get cut. Just sayin'.

I don't think that's going to happen, but...

VMware did secure a "go-shop" clause in the deal, which allows it to solicit offers from other parties until July 5. Should VMware enter into a different transaction before that date, it will owe Broadcom a $750 million break-up fee, according to a... — read more
