Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Future of VMware Security

In the press releases following the announcement of Broadcom announcement it was stated, "Broadcom Software Group (which is run by Symantec) will rebrand and operate as VMware, incorporating Broadcom's existing infrastructure and security software solutions as part of an expanded VMware portfolio"

So why does everyone say that Carbon Black is going to get the axe? It seems like Broadcom actually needs VMware's security solutions and might even grow that BU.

All Hock cares about is what’s sticky. He doesn’t give a sh-t about what’s new or what’s technically superior. What’s sticky and his ability to squeeze ba--s on price is what matters. So if you don’t have lots of customers spending lots of money and nowhere else to go……

Believe anything else and your delusional. Lmfao…. Ex-BroadCoN guy here….

What is weird is the fact VMW is still investing on CB, new features (Contexa, XDR,..) , new integrations (VCDR, Lastline), also new hires. So that means, either they will keep CB or they already have a buyer, otherwise I can’t see throwing money in to something they are no longer interested in

If BC wants to keep the intrinsic security message, then they nees CB. Also, from a technical point of view CBC is a much better product thant SES, single cloud native security platform/console covering traditional endpoints, workloads and containers, plus the EDR and threat hunting capabilities are leagues ahead of Symantec’s.

Also do not forget the native integration with vCenter, NSX-T, Workspace One, VCDR, as well as the upcoming exclusive capabilities because of its integration with Tanzu.

Time will tell, but IF CB is on sale I can see big contenders interested in it (IBM, Google, among others looking for a good security platform)

Yeah they need NSX not CB. Don't think the security BU is just CB it isn't. NSX is probably our biggest security product. CB has done very little to integrate with our products and some of them they flat out don't even support.

From the streetinsider.com link below

“We believe Carbon Black (Security) and Tanzu (DevOps) are potential "for sale" assets.”

Instead of thinking what Broadcom will do, if you are not in Hack Tan’s sweet spot to keep on, you may instead have to fathom what some yet you be determined company that buys those assets/groups would do. That of course is basically impossible.

As we cruise at 30,000 ft, expect some turbulence.
