I can't. I envy those who can, but that's not me. Things have changed and that's a fact. Before Broadcom, at least most of us had some kind of job security. Now, unless you are an engineer (and a damn good one) your chances of getting laid off are significantly higher than of not being laid off. How can people know this and act as nothing has changed?

To (try to) stave off demotivation and anxiety, make the most of some resources we still have - and there are others:
- If you've been here for 1yr + , see if you can take a Take 1 course or two: https://source.vmware.com/portal/pages/HR/take-1-program
- Take an accreditation in your field
- Check out VMware Learning Hub for the LinkedIn career info:
https://vmwarelearninghub.edcast.com/smartsearch?q=LinkedIn
- Submit your monthly internet and phone bill for WFH reimbursement (in the US that's $50 for phone, $25 for internet) I'm surprised how many people don't know about this
- Go to Coupa app on WS1 and see if there's any equipment you've been meaning to get and order it (mostly goes to your cost center and you're not billed)
- And polish your resume even if you're not job hunting right now - you'll just feel better. Do something, something is better than nothing.
What other options do we have? Wait and see what happens or find a new job and quit. Job security didn’t exist at VMWare but now it looks better because Broadcom will cut very deep. Focus on what you can control.
