Well folks, it’s been a wild week out here on the range. Rumors gallopin’ faster than a spooked jackrabbit, whispers in every cubicle corral, and folks hidin’ under their desks like coyotes in a hailstorm. But today, I bring word straight from the top bunkhouse—The Ranch Boss himself has spoken.

That’s right: a ceasefire has been declared.

All units, stand down. Pack up your spreadsheets, holster your resume blasters, and step away from the LinkedIn feed. The L48 front has gone quiet—no more surprise ambushes, no more “urgent invites” from HR at high noon. The dust is settlin’, and the Ranch Boss says, “That’s enough shootin’ for one season.”

Now, I ain’t sayin’ the fence line’s fixed or the water trough’s full—there’s still a few loose boards out there, and some of y’all are lookin’ at each other like, “You sure this ain’t a trick?” But as of now, the official word is:

Will employees be expected to turn in concession phones and laptops/computers/monitors, etc? They can't seriously expect 15k+ employees to return equipment. Is there a way to negotiate keeping them? What happens in the event you don't send it back?

I know that for sure, I’ve been trying to find something for months now.

Has anyone been explicitly told that their team is done?

I thought that the new CEO could be one of the rare good guys based on his history. I was so, so wrong.

I know a restructure was said to take place and 180 store closures.. do you think we will restructure all of the territories? How do we think Sr. Directors and Directors will be impacted? Or possibly Sr. Managers and Assistant Managers?

This whole sh*ituation is down to three things:

1). Hans. He was the CEO when we saw the company going from being leader in everything to leader in nothing an losing in the market. Buck starts and stops with Hans, all the while he spent more time at sports events than actually running the company. GUILTY.
2). The Board. They signed off on the plan every year. They are ultimately responsible to the shareholders. They need to be held to account and changed. GUILTY
3). The dead-beat VLT. They came up with, and 'executed' (right word) the plan that got us in this situation. In particular Scampath. GUILTY.

ALL need to be changed otherwise zero credibility. One down, two to go.

Imagine thinking a company has your best interests at heart just to lay you off before the holidays lol. Y’all shoulda joined the union.

When they say cutting managers are these the higher ups or just management in general

Will the IT groups be targeted i this layoff

Verizon has a total of 100,000 US employees. Not all of the 100,000 are managers. So 15,000 manager jobs cut is more than 15%

I know there are plenty of trolls, but please, for the sake of the rest of the thread. Just leave the trolling for somewhere else. Have any band fives been asked to give a list or have been given a list?

Please don't rip my head off for this post. I have read the act and the "single site/location" of 500 or more employees confuses me. Im not a damn lawyer. I'm in a state that falls under the Federal guidelines of 60 days. Any wisdom if Vz will have to follow this law? (Bracing for incoming fire)

With layoffs looming and articles all over the news. Employee morale at its lowest but our VP , Jarrett - wants a plan to fix a metric. No one is addressing the stress and fear that our people are feeling. What a low person

Looks like all of the competition are also going through major layoffs or restructuring. One of the companies I was looking at (Verizon) to move to just announced a 15,000 person cut.

My heart goes out to all who’ve been affected so far. Synopsys employee here, and it seems like Ansys folks have been hit especially hard, at least based on what we’d heard before this round. That’s really unfair, since I know quite a few people from that side who were skilled, dedicated, and genuinely great at what they did. I can only assume performance and experience weren’t major factors. Remember, these are corporate cost-cutting decisions. They almost never reflect our true professional value or potential.

What percentage of management is that? How many managers does Verizon have total? This is just an awful kick in the pants.

Am I the only one who only thought "okay" when reading the news? This has been dragged out for so long that I'm now numb and I don't even care anymore. If they want to get rid of me, so be it. It's not like those staying behind will be in a much better position with all the extra work coming their way.

So 15k is the number. Which is still short of the 20%. So most likely round 2 will be after January. Those lists were already made as most people suspected. If anyone has actual details on how the layoff procedure works from prior experience, please inform us is there an HR call is there a WebEx? And what are the details of the actual severance if there is any?

Verizon shares rose about 1.7% on the news.
Thousands upon thousands of people are about to lose their livelihoods, and investors are rubbing their greedy little hands together, rejoicing at the news. Really tells you something about the state of the world we live in.

Wow just heard on radio not only 15,000 by next week ,but that Dan said more to come and layoffs and cost cutting will be a way of life at Verizon along with most corporate wireless stores will not exist anymore only 3rd party dealers
