Has the government done any analysis on the potential impact of AI-related layoffs with its rapid advancement over the next 5 years? I’m guessing around 75% of H1Bs may not be needed. When will the emphasis shift toward prioritizing US citizens and Permanent Residents?
Missouri lawmakers are debating a plan to replace the state income tax. Governor Mike Kehoe's proposal would instead implement increased sales taxes. Voters would decide on this change in November if the bill passes. Supporters believe it will attract businesses and young professionals to Missouri. Critics worry about the financial impact on residents with fixed incomes.

The federal Immigration Department is experiencing significant job cuts. These cuts have led to a rise in application backlogs and processing times. Over one year, backlogged applications exceeding service standards increased by 12.7 percent. The Canada Employment and Immigration Union reports increased workloads and employee burnout. The department attributes longer processing times to growing demand for Canada.
Marilyn Burgess Seeks Pay Hike, Cuts Staff, Declines Re-election.
Harris County District Clerk Marilyn Burgess sought a significant pay raise. She voted for an $81,000 salary increase for herself. This occurred shortly after her office laid off 12 employees. Commissioners questioned her self-approved raise and did not finalize it. Burgess subsequently announced she would not seek re-election in 2026.https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/district-clerk-lays-off-employees-then-votes-herself-81k-raise/ar-AA1NeKBs?ocid=sms&apiversion=v2&domshim=1&noservercache=1&noservertelemetry=1&batchservertelemetry=1&renderwebcomponents=1&wcseo=1
New Orleans Moreno Administration Implements City Staff Cuts
Mayor Helena Moreno's administration implemented significant personnel changes. These actions address an estimated $222 million budget deficit in New Orleans. Over 30 employees were laid off, and offices like Youth and Families were effectively closed. Key programs, including Crescent City ID and youth initiatives, face uncertain futures. City workers and advocates express concern over program continuity and morale.

Cleveland, Ohio, January 2026:
MAGNET Reduces Staff Amid Ohio MEP Funding Suspension
The Trump administration froze millions in funding for Ohio manufacturing support programs last month. Cleveland's MAGNET eliminated 37 positions due to a $5.9 million financing gap. Other Ohio MEP locations also faced closures and suspended operations. An ongoing U.S. Commerce Department audit caused the funding freeze. Ohio lawmakers, the Governor, and industry groups are fighting to restore the support.

See notice to the Defense Contractors below, next will be oil companies who do not invest in Venezuela! Thank you for your attention in this matter XOM Management Committee!
Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
All United State Defense Contractors, and the Defense Industry as a whole, BEWARE:
While we make the best Military Equipment in the World (No other Country is even close!), Defense Contractors are currently issuing massive Dividends to their Shareholders and massive Stock Buybacks, at the expense and detriment of investing in Plants and Equipment. This situation will no longer be allowed or tolerated!
Also, Executive Pay Packages in the Defense Industry are exorbitant and unjustifiable given how slowly these Companies are delivering vital Equipment to our Military, and our Allies. Salaries, Stock Options, and every other form of Compensation are far too high for these Executives. Defense Companies are not producing our Great Military Equipment rapidly enough and, once produced, not maintaining it properly or quickly. From this moment forward, these Executives must build NEW and MODERN Production Plants, both for delivering and maintaining this important Equipment, and for building the latest Models of future Military Equipment. Until they do so, no Executive should be allowed to make in excess of $5 Million Dollars which, as high as it sounds, is a mere fraction of what they are making now. Additionally, the maintenance and repair of Equipment, once sold, is far too slow, and must be immediately enhanced. As President, I am demanding that maintenance be “spot on, on time.”
Therefore, I will not permit Dividends or Stock Buybacks for Defense Companies until such time as these problems are rectified — Likewise, for Salaries and Executive Compensation. MILITARY EQUIPMENT IS NOT BEING MADE FAST ENOUGH! It must be built now with the Dividends, Stock Buybacks, and Over Compensation of Executives, rather than borrowing from Financial Institutions, or getting the money from your Government. Longer term, this is good for both Executives and Shareholders, because it will be GREAT for our Country! Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
DONALD J. TRUMP
PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
Does Europe still have EV mandate in place? Does Ford still need an EV majority vehicle lineup for the EU marketplace?
Obviously F150 lightening is not a big influence there, but smaller vehicles dominate the lineup.
Will EU governments prefer hybrids, are EU govt better suited to install EV charging infrastructure
U.S. Government needs the (future) Tax revenue from (New children) born in the U.S.
Since households are having less children over time.
In 2025, it was 1.6 children per household.
1946 - 1964 - Baby boomer generation it was 3.6 children per household.
Inflation expenses.
The Trump administration has launched investigations into the use of diversity initiatives in hiring and promotion at major U.S. companies, built on the novel use of a federal law meant to punish businesses that cheat the government.
The civil probes are proceeding under the umbrella of the False Claims Act, which has traditionally been used to go after contractors who bill the government for work that was never performed or inflate the cost of services rendered.
Now the Justice Department is embracing the theory that holding a federal contract while still considering diversity when hiring is, in effect, fraud against the government that entitles it to recoup potentially millions of dollars.
If you believe you have been unfairly treated due to Blackrock abuses of the H-1B program, you should consider writing a letter to Congress, the Department of Labor, and other relevant government authorities.

First, a federal judge in California blocked the State Department from laying off about 250 employees, many of them foreign service officers (FSOs).
Judge Susan Illston issued a temporary restraining order, saying the unions that filed suit were likely to prevail on their claim that the cuts violate federal law. The State Department originally announced the layoffs in July, but since FSOs are given a required 120 days’ notice, they were not let go during the shutdown. The State Department says the layoff protections only apply to notices that went out starting October 1, 2025.

My question to Copiot,,,,,,,,So basically very little progress but a lot of plans no extra money coming in just money spent on planning or whatever.
Answer - That’s a pretty fair summary of where Canada stands right now. The country has rolled out ambitious frameworks—like the Clean Electricity Strategy and emissions reduction targets—but the tangible results are slower to materialize.
Plans are in the works to save hundreds of the roughly 1,000 jobs slated to be lost at Algoma Steel Inc.
Bill Slater, president of United Steelworkers local 2724 that represents some of the affected employees, says as many as 500 people could be back at work by the end of next year.

That only came out last week, when Algoma, after announcing it was laying off 1,000 workers at its steel plant in Sault Ste. Marie, revealed both levels of government knew in advance about the impending layoffs when they granted the loans.

Currently, the U.S. levies no tax on U.S. firms’ overseas earnings as long as those profits remain overseas. That policy essentially encourages companies to reinvest their profits outside the U.S. And to give companies even more incentive to hire overseas, the Internal Revenue Service allows companies that move factories abroad to deduct from their taxable income the cost of closing their U.S. plants.
Giving up on CAFE and Bill’s EV wet dreams….

Our remaining refineries are facing an existential threat that puts the very fabric of our economy and society at risk.
Without significant and rapid policy intervention, the country’s remaining refineries are at risk of closure, increasing reliance on foreign imports.
Creating a level playing field for Britain’s refineries to compete is in the gift of the Government, and we need to see action.

I work in federal services and am wondering if anyone knows if the reopening of the government will restore a lot of the members we keep losing due to the shut down. It’s been awful hearing from members how this is impacting them and their family. Those have jobs aren’t getting paid and others are now losing their health coverage.
Here is what the government is saying “At a minimum, Mr. Bisignano appears to have failed to manage Fiserv effectively, and may have misled investors and the public about the company’s financial status, raising concerns about his ability to serve as a key Social Security and IRS official in the Trump administration,”
A bipartisan bill introduced on November 5, 2025, would require large companies and federal agencies to report AI-related layoffs to the Department of Labor.
Senators Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) and Mark Warner (D-Va.) proposed the AI-Related Job Impacts Clarity Act. The DOL would collect this data and publish public reports for Congress.
Hawley says people need to understand how AI affects jobs, noting predictions that AI could increase unemployment by 20% in five years.
This follows other legislative efforts:
Bernie Sanders warned AI could replace 97 million jobs in the next decade. He proposed solutions like a "robot tax," ending tax breaks for automation, and a 32-hour workweek.
Nancy Mace introduced a bill for AI training in federal workplaces.
Mark Kelly proposed an "AI Horizon Fund" where top AI companies would contribute to worker retraining and support.
Several states already regulate workplace AI use. New York, California, and Colorado require things like bias audits or disclosure of AI in hiring.
The main concern is that companies lack resources to train employees on AI, while pressure grows to adopt the technology.
