Layoffs

How deep? How will land be effected?

Who else is going to jump ship ahead of time?

I've been keeping my eyes and ears open out there since the Marathon merger and have a couple of things lined up. My big question now is whether to take off asap or wait until a possible eoi is offered. Anybody else in this situation? What are your... — read more

If this is your first time

First time to go through a down cycle? It isn't fun, and usually happens at least once each decade. Some people posting on this message board seem to have never been through this before and probably are new employees. Everyone saw this one coming. ... — read more

Low Oil Prices

Amen!... praise be! Lower oil prices will be an economic stimulus. Say $30-50/bbl - cheap energy. Better then Fed cutting interest rates.

SJBU

Rumor I'm hearing is that COP is in the market to buy back some assets in the previously sold SJBU. Anyone else hearing this?

Well, oil prices are going down

Thanks to the stable genius, we're looking at a long, dark road ahead. This should make RL and the gang eager to speed up the "right sizing". Brace yourselves for impact in 5, 4, 3...

No one knows nothing!!

Why would RL announce layoffs in February and again in March but keep saying we don’t know when or how? Why tell us at all? I guess he likes low morale? Maybe have a plan before you announce. Seems like a sh*t show to me.

Shared Services

Rumors on shared services? I’ve heard talk that Finance, IT, and HR are going to be absorbed into the respective BUs they do the work for and will be required to relocate to those home offices like Alaska Midland etc. anyone else here this?

We Need a Union, Time To Push Back

Rumors say 25% layoff this year. It’s time to push back, we need to unionize and protect our jobs. We need to make sure management feels the sting of the bad decisions they make over and over again. A union doesn’t have to be political. We... — read more

Bartlesville office

Any word on whether Bartlesville will get shut down? What’s the word on the street?

McKinsey Consultants

Welp that’s it’s everyone. COP has contracted and hired McKinsey Consultants. Let the layoffs begin.

IT Outsourcing

IT outsourcing is happening in several groups over the next few months. Many jobs are going offshore. Service Desk and other functions in Bartlesville are out the door. Good luck!

Layoff package?

Can anyone give an idea of what a layoff package looks like? I heard that Concho got such a bad severance that a lot of them just left but that sounds like bad negotiating on their part. What does a COP layoff severance look like when the layoff is... — read more

Possibility of EOIs?

What are the chances of EOIs for competitive edge? Has anyone heard of any rumblings? If there are EOIs it would assume more of a mass layoff than a targeted one. Also chances that people would jump ship after taking away hybrid wfh?

MRO Acquisition

Preliminary thoughts on the mro acquisition? Think we will get the synergies or did we buy a lemon? Realize it's still too early but curious about any early feedback.

Competitive edge

The best thing that could happen for the company is to get rid of the dinosaurs in management who are out of touch with how the industry works now.

GoA sale

GoA assets being sold to Shell. Here comes the axe

Tone Deaf

Is it just me, or (1) does the linking of “here’s your annual bonus for the year, thanks for your work and dedication” with announcing layoffs callous and tone deaf? (2) the SVP OF Strategy, Commercial, Sustainability & Technology is the most... — read more

WFH-Friday

It was clearly a laughable question. I do appreciate the reference to fairness for those who can’t work from home. While we are on the topic of fairness - why is it fair for someone to make well over (using a low multiplier here) 100 times the... — read more

Thoughts on new VCIP structure?

VCIP goes back to per BU basis. Company cuts budgets on all other BUs and keeps dumping money to Alaska. Then Alaska gets top tier VCIP next year while everyone else gets a pathetic VCIP rating due to cost cutting. Sounds fair to me :)

Layoffs announced at VCIP Town Hall?

Do we think RL will announce the timeline for layoffs at the VCIP town hall? I know that some of the ELT is doing "Company Strategy Updates" early next week after the town hall, so I'm assuming they will go into greater detail about the layoffs... — read more

How about that GEP USA

Wow! How much did we spend on this nextgen effort? Anyone able to make heads or tails of the New system and get anything done they did before? That EDW data modernization sure is providing some high quality data isn’t it RL? SPIRIT Awards all around... — read more

Movement

So is there a hiring or promotion freeze? Are people moving teams. Can’t pinpoint it and supervisors aren’t being straightforward.

Tariffs & VCIP

Does anyone think that the tariffs will have any impact to our VCIP?

No Flexibility For Appointments

I found out last week that my manager gave 2 coworkers verbal permission to wfh whenever they need to. Fantastic for them except I got told today to log a half day worth of PTO because I had a dentist appointmwnt this morning and arrived 1 hour later... — read more
