I’m a contractor at ConocoPhillips. My contract was recently extended for a year, but with all the layoff talk, I’m wondering if that means anything at all.
Be straight with me:
Are contractors the first to get cut?
Does a contract extension mean anything, or can they still drop me tomorrow?
What are the odds I get let go—50/50? Higher?
Do contractors get any warning, or do they just shut off your badge and you're done?
What have past layoffs at COP been like—slow and quiet or sudden and brutal?
Trying to figure out if I should be worried now or just wait for the axe. Any insight from people who’ve been through this would help. Should I start looking for a new job NOW? Thanks.
