Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Dragging out layoffs this long is a guaranteed way to ki-l morale

A company that delays like this clearly doesn’t care about productivity. Who in their right mind could stay focused, let alone dedicated and productive, while having no idea what their future looks like? I’m just spinning my wheels here, overwhelmed by anxiety about what’s coming. We all have lives, bills, and families. At the very least, it’s inconsiderate. And honestly, it’s not doing the company any favors either.

It is always done this way, and it will not be a single round, but multiple rounds. Why? I don’t know, ask our “leadership.”

Isn’t ki-ling morale what COP managers get paid for?

I think he misunderstood his friends when they told him he had a good package.

@x5 Please share what your multiple sources have told you about the package. It is strange that you are holding that back on an anonymous discussion.

It’s also a great way to encourage attrition. No having to pay severances that way. We’re all just expenses, not people, not “valuable assets” and not respected.

You know when BCG is banking $200K/day to “help” us with CEP, it’s gonna drag out as long as possible. They just have to finish milking the cow before the end of the year.

Agree but with partial vesting on layoff for 2025 RSU grants, this needs to drag on until mid-August.

I really doubt senior management gives a flying fig about morale. They speak about CEP as a wonderful thing.

Shouldn’t SPIRIT stand for “Severing Paid Individuals Is Really Terrific”!
Aside from that, a good point. This company is struggling to fix itself with tactics that simply don’t work. Leadership is out of touch with the real world and employees. There’s a reason we have a lousy reputation out there.

Its unfortunate that some percentage of the population feels like you do now and even at all times (regarding post on morale here). There was pride at some point of being a COP empl, but seems that is getting less and less over the years as we go through more and more layoffs.

True, but morale has never been great here. This is company hasn’t been a performer for quite sometime.

I just checked the date on this post to make sure it wasn't one from 2021, or 2018, or 2016, or 2015.
Get used to it OP. This IS SPIRIT values in action, as in "Severing Paid Employees Really Is Terrific"
