For those who haven’t been through a layoff before, get ready. People you think are your friends or who you think have your back will be aiming for it. Bad behaviors will amplify. You will be talked about in a negative way even by your closest allies. Supervisors will pick their favorites and if you’re not one, you’ll start to see it in the little day to day things.
The next 4-6 months will not be fun or pleasant.
Just recognize that it’s not you. It’s all part of the game.

Been there and done that! Always be prepared. Play the game and get ahead of the game as well. Our jobs have always been finite, and we are all replaceable. If you are just figuring this out, then take the blindfold off and live in the real world.
I plan to ride this out until the layoffs. I’ll collect the severance and will no doubt be better off for it.
It won’t happen though, I know how redundant everyone or certain people are. It’s just my luck that I won’t be laid off and I’ll have to continue to listen to you id--ts for the rest of my life. Not my first and won’t be my last. This is gods way of punishing me. You’ll see! I’ll post again after the cardboard parade. Every time
I’m witnessing mobbing at work already by directors and their buddies. Protect your wellbeing because there is nothing to stop them but leaving. It may be illegal, but in this current situation, lawyers and medical experts have advised me to leave.
Also recognize that the lists have already been drawn up. Sure, there’s some refining to do, but overall the decisions have been made.
Might as well kick back and enjoy the ride!
If keeping a paycheck is your top priority and you get an offer to do something then accept it. It is always a surprise that people turn down a new assignment or role. Transfers are never convenient but if you’re asked then don’t wait for another option. In this environment the other option is thank you for your service and goodbye. Managers with some influence may be able to place you in the near future. You may not like the offer but don’t underestimate what strings that person had to pull to get that for you. Think all this through now. Remember COSST? No one really wanted to be on that team but it was safe and they all landed.
Regardless of the level of office politics and positioning, I suggest accepting that you’re a dead man/woman walking. It’s likely that anything you do now won’t matter so accept it. Cut unnecessary spending, save like crazy and be prepared to be laid off. Ideally you should have a year’s living expenses at the ready, but better late than never.
Yaaaaaas queen!
Oh yeah, it's a barrel of monkeys
