Topics regarding layoffs at VMware

Wrong focus?

I used to be proud to work for this company, but I’m afraid there is no salvation for it anymore. VMWare is soon to be a dinosaur. The management (what’s left) doesn’t have a clue. They focus on SJW c-ap, the environment and any and everything... — read more

Merit Increases at VMware?

Hi, I’m new to VMware and just heard from a colleague that there are no merit increases? Is this true? Any suggestions or tips on an equity distribution and raise?

When will we know?

Who will own and run VMware? This blog shows frequent layoffs and departing leadership. Someone is nipping away?

There's no reason to stand out

This place has made sure that anybody who tries to stand out gets punished by receiving additional work and nothing else. No pay increases, no bonuses, no promotions, nothing. So why would anybody even bother at this place anymore? I certainly know... — read more

Can VMware become a networking company?

Management said that a goal is for VMware to be a networking company. Is VMware viewed as a networking company? What will it take for VMware to be seen as a networking company?

Our products

My question is: will we ever have better products? As long as they keep building complex, fragile products that don’t integrate well, and keep blowing their cash on botched acquisitions, no amount of shuffling the deck is going to change... — read more

Is there a future here?

I’m not sure anymore. After the last round of layoffs I’ve been question on whether to stick it out or jump ship. When layoffs are the only solution that can be found to solve the issues this company has, it becomes obvious how inept upper... — read more

VMWare sales leadership is clueless

VMWare‘s sales leadership are so clueless! They make org changes instead of addressing the actual underlying issues. Sorry VMWare executives, moving people around just for the sake of moving them won’t solve your problems. Try actually addressing the... — read more

This is a horrible situation they put us in

With all the layoffs we've been having lately - and sometimes it feels like they're never ending - there's no winning whether you are laid off or not. If you are laid off, you're out of a job. If you are not, you get to pick up extra work for no... — read more

This could have been handled so much better

Are you really telling me that the company isn't capable of doing these layoffs in a day or two and has to drag them out throughout the entire week? Why? There's no good reason for it. And it's certainly not doing any favors to employees. We are... — read more

Layoff - how do they inform you

Does anyone know how does the act of communication that one is being laid off happen? Who notifies you and how do they tell you? How long the meeting lasts?

How big is this round?

Usually we hear more by now, but this time it's mostly quiet. I'm wondering if this is one of the smaller rounds and the worst is yet to come.

Vmw stock lost 17% in two days

This is very scary. Even though the market overall is down but all of a sudden, vmw stock lost ground much faster than the market. In 3 days, 17% down at a very bad time. Nov and Dec are the months to “reorganize” essentially prepare the lay off... — read more
