Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Can VMware become a networking company?

Management said that a goal is for VMware to be a networking company. Is VMware viewed as a networking company? What will it take for VMware to be seen as a networking company?

Is VMware trying to be a networking company or have a networking offering? I thought it was the latter.

Short answer – no! Longer answer – hell no! The true Networking companies are going to crush VMWare if and when VMWare ever really tries to get into their space. Do you really think a Cisco is scared of VMWare?

If vmware tries just a little bit harder, it can be a refuge for all the people in silicon valley who cannot actually
program but like to pretend they do.

Did Ryan Mac Ban leave VMware? What does that say about Sales for Networking and Security?

So VMware is Dell's cash cow? That indicates more culling to come to maximize cash flow.

Some say that vmware now is a financing company servicing Dell's debt.

That’s a good one. Isn’t VMware a software company now? Or what?

If vmware puts its collective brain power on overdrive, I'm sure vmware can become a software company again.

SASE is all about delivering security from the cloud. The security companies are jumping all over SASE. Can VMware become a security company? Will customers think of VMware as a security company?

run by Indians - LOL. Kemosabi is either a wise man or an id–t. I'd say an id–t wrt to networking. Without SASE, the chances of becoming a network company is slim to none. SDwan and Velo is nothing without SASE - comon man wake up. All of the firewall companies have jumped on this bandwagon - VPN is dead and these companies know it. VMWare is asleep at the wheel and missing a huge opportunity. Can't wait for them to be spun off I4

I don’t see “why not”. Networking has been in the VMWare DNA since day 1, expanded with Nicira and now with VeloCloud. VMWare just needs to start implementing SASE functionality and start competing in this space.
