Thread regarding VMware layoffs

How big is this round?

Usually we hear more by now, but this time it's mostly quiet. I'm wondering if this is one of the smaller rounds and the worst is yet to come.

Another post recommended using careerprotection.com before signing any severance package. Curious to know if anyone has ever used a service like that, and are the worth engaging?

It's big enough that they're going to be doing it based on capacity of hr business partners. For my team I was told that it will be tuesday/thursday cadence this week and next as our HR partner didn't have enough time for all of them. Not sure why the Tues/Thurs cadence, other than HR said they had to prep for each discussion, and the lead time was required.

so... hang on to your butts, carnage is coming

If you know someone that is surely impacted, go search him/her on workday.
If he is reporting to someone apart from his manager, count all the siblings and cousin nodes. You will have the total number affected. This may take some time to reflect. But should be done by noon for whichever location, you are looking into. This worked during last layoffs in January.

I've heard of 3 so far. Some of these are good people. It's upsetting.

Not quiet at all. Just because you have not heard it does not mean it is not happening. Cuts this time are deep. On top many teams will be told that the are moving among BUs and will be working on different goals as of today

Although, this is VMware, so the worst rarely stays the worst for long.
