Topics regarding layoffs at Shell Oil

Wael is useless.

Is wael the ceo with the least leadership and vision ever? He’s truly pathetic. Literally anyone could say ‘ok sack 20% of the work force to save money’ But what value has he really added. He inspires no one and has shown zero vision. He’s happy... — read more

Shell’s future

Shell will be just a trading company in the future. All assets divested. They forgot how to be an oil company.

Job cuts in Shell posts in Africa

Does anyone know anything about Shell job cuts in the various African locations such as Nigeria ( beyond the SPDC cuts in 2023)? I hear a lot of the job cuts are in the UK and Netherlands.

Subsurface Job Cuts and Long Term Meaning

USA 30% Netherlands 24% UK 2/3% (not as bad due operating UK and Brazil assets) You cannot keep pulling the job cut lever for short term financial results when the fundamental long term issue is nothing in the funnel. The last 5 reorgs haven't... — read more

Why NDAs?

Been with Shell a long time. I don’t remember NDAs being a part of previous re-orgs. Am I misremembering? Why this time? And is the true consequence of breaking an NDA loss of employment? Also, is the NDA thing company wide or just in Deepwater? — read more

Reduction estimates?

Now that the new org charts are live, any estimates of reductions in different orgs?

Last time for us special severance

I was in a meeting where Weal was insensed at our estimate of what US special severance would be. He’s pushing through moving Exploration office staff to lower cost locations (uk and India). He wants US share pricing, without US costs….

Now Chevron is going to Bangalore India

Chevron just announced to setup a Chevron Technical Center in Bengalore now and will shift 600 jobs (initially?). Wow! Looks like the highly paid CEOs of O&G companies have 0 ability to lead the company anymore. All of them are just shelling our... — read more

Shell/BP coincidence

It’s interesting that we are laying off employees at the same time as BP. The industry is doing fine right now. Crude is over $80. Is there any chance we’re slimming down to prepare for a takeover?

Weird priorities

Soooo … just read that while Shell is laying off workers they are donating to 2025 “charities”. That’s what we’re prioritizing over jobs? Even if I keep my job, the anxiety so many of us are feeling is off the charts. How do we find the money for... — read more

Exit Date

Does anyone know what the exit date might be for this new upcoming round?

Nothing like rubbing salt in the wounds…

https://www.ltts.com/press-release/shell-signs-new-framework-agreement You would think they would at least wait until after or maybe this is where some of will be sent instead of a severance package…
