Shell-BP Merger - WHEN??

This rumour of Shell and BP merging has been floating around for way too long. I fear, She’ll will be late again, and some other major will scoop up BP.

Does anyone have any insider scoop on this??

Wael has zero vision or leadership skills - he can only do basic things. Cost cutting is easy to do, so he’s focused on that, but he has no idea what to do next. That’s why he’ll go for the bp merger soon as it will be a distraction for a few years.

I'm a former Shell employee now at BP. Both companies are in a horrible position, a merger between the two is just a larger sinking ship... Leadership at both companies is inept.

@4tkb+1w9X6aAd Did they dump UK assets to avoid antitrust challenges in a potential merger with bp?

Q3 2025 after “minor adjustments” which they refuse to call step 3

For those who don’t know, the company has spent 10 months laying off two huge groups of people - 20-30% cuts, in “Step 1” and “Step 2”.

BP is bloated like Shell. If we did merge there would be non stop layoffs.

I agree the rumor has been floating around for way too long--it started in 2002, about 3 years after the BP-Amoco merger.
