Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Employment lawyer recommendation

Hi, Does anyone have an employment lawyer for recommendation? This is about mistreatment during the latest layoff process. Thanks!

I second Oberti Sullivan. Mark Oberti is one of the best plaintiff’s side employment lawyers in town.

"I don't think you know what real lawyers do. It's not like on TV."

If you mean Shell corporate counsel, I know they speed dial Norton Rose. That's a good day's work. Then a long lunch. Yawn. 5:30, hit the bar for happy hour.

If you mean a plaintiff's lawyer and they have a deposition, an administrative hearing with the TWC or EEOC, a pre-trial hearing or other court ordered appearance, they either show up or refer the case to someone who will.

So what type of mistreatment did you receive that rises to the level of legally actionable?

Ah, the classic "they laid me off and now I need a lawyer" situation. What a shocker! Who could’ve predicted that companies might be... less than graceful during layoffs? But hey, if you're looking to make sure your mistreatment is documented in exquisite legal detail, I'm sure there’s a lawyer out there who’d love to help you cash in on that injustice.

You don't have a case. Take your paltry severance and move on

Yeah, Texas has lots of employment attorneys, I'm sure these lawyers won't mind driving in from Austin, San Antonio or Dallas for a court appearances in Harris county.

"Experience"? "Free case reviews"? "Recommends speaking with an attorney"? "Thomson Reuters Super Lawyer"? Really? REALLY?

Thanks for doing a Copilot (GAG!) search. You saved me lots of effort and did me a HUGE favor! Most law firms are mills that just want to maximize case loads over minimized paralegal hours to get the best ROI.

Which ones are good? Which ones have experience with the TWC, actually going to court over an employment matter, winning cases, settling cases on favorable terms?

Are you one of these a--holes who feels compelled to add empty comments on X, Reddit, and now here?

Since Shell is in Texas:
Texas has many lawyers who can help with layoff issues, including wrongful termination, unpaid wages, and workplace discrimination. Some of the top lawyers in Texas include:

Rob Wiley, P.C.: A Dallas employment lawyer who has been named a Texas Super Lawyer by Thompson Reuters every year since 2014
Jairo Nikov Castellanos: A wrongful termination lawyer who advocates for employee rights

Stacy Cole Law, P.C.: An employment law firm that represents employees in claims for wrongful termination, unpaid wages, and workplace discrimination

Ross • Scalise Employment Lawyers: An Austin employment law firm that recommends speaking with an attorney before accepting a severance offer

Holt Lackey: An Austin wrongful termination attorney who has experience helping Austin clients

Ruiz Law Firm: An employment and labor law firm that offers free case reviews

The Law Office of Jeffrey A. Goldberg: A San Antonio labor and employment lawyer who has experience winning cases in state and federal court

Take your severance and move on.

It’s the best thing for you.

You know you don’t get your severance if you lawyer up, right? If so, good luck partner. You better have receipts of some serious protected class level violations.
