A BP / Shell merger might occur, with the headquarters relocation threat (which was curiously announced several months ago) helping to ease the gov / reg hurdles of such a combination. All other potential BP buyers appear external to the U.K.. Want to keep a supermajor on the LSE? Hear us out.

Won’t happen until Shell leaves the London stock exchange for NY. Then it’ll absolutely positively without a doubt be on the table as part of sprint #3 IMHO.
Yay another reorg!!
I say double down!
"BP is a dumpster fire"
Well somebody needs to put it out .... Since dumpster fires are toxic .....
gotta keep change at Shell constant... so maybe
it is now or never to be honest ....
Definitely a lot of synergistic savings....Wael would love it and so would BP board. Being together in UK means the regulators and FTSE investors would also be ok. With BP stocks being where they are.....seems like a good time ! Do it Wael and lets use it to start another round of reorgs with a new target operating model !
BP is a dumpster fire
BP has good assets but I don’t think it could survive without a merger.

More asset sales, JVs etc...quick hits and doable. Wael doesn't have the patience for anything else. But no harm setting up a coded project to look into this - staffed by a bunch of high flyers n one or two worker bees
Take two giant piles of sh-t and mix them together and you still have a giant pile of sh-t, just bigger
This “rumor” turns up periodically when people are unaware of the mismatch of assets, the many governmental approvals required, the inherent ongoing costs of melding staffs, etc., etc. Hasn’t happened in 3+ decades and won’t now. Get back to work.
