Shell is not the same company it once was. People now just expect things to get worse, not better. I can’t remember a time when my coworkers were so focused on negative changes like they are now. There’s no hope for improvement, just worries about what might come next. It’s hard not to feel down about it.

Okay fine, after more then a decate of work got layed off. There was no fun lately anyway.
Plenty of great companies and visionary leaders to work for. Yes there is life after Shell, I am enjoying it now. I like the no stress life now.
Only thing I was hoping to see: that the shares actually go up after all these reorgs. At least I can cash out some PSP shares and be done with it.
For now no CEo decision seems to get the share up. But I can wait.
im milking it for all its worth... just remember youre just a number and treat the company the same as how they treat its employees
In Russia there is a saying. No matter how bad things get, remember, they can always get worse. Lol
I agree. The culture has definitely changed from a company where one would build a career to one where one does not. Employees with 30+ years were common in the past, but now a rarity. To those who are looking at Shell for a possible career, my advice is to look elsewhere. There are better companies out there with good benefit and salaries where job security is not a concern year after year and a career can be had. Shell says they care about your mental health, yet Shell is the reason for mental anguish. There is so much change taking place at Shell, it feels like no one knows the bigger picture. It is only about shareholder value, shareholder value, shareholder value, shareholder value. True leadership is elevating both the company and the employees and seeing beyond just the next few quarters. True leadership is not just cutting OPEX to make short terms gains. Yeah, we were bloated, but this was NOT because of lower level staff who are impacted with OPEX cuts, it was the high-level leaders who led Shell down that path. I have only witnessed true leadership at GM levels and below. People on the front lines. VP and higher like to use corporate buzz words. No real connection to lower level staff. Almost like politicians who are disconnected from realities the general population faces.
Shell is a miserable place to work now
it will only get worse before it gets better
wael wants to fire the bottom 10-15% each year like his s-xual fantasy company exxon does.
here’s the problem. our managers are unskilled buddies who work the system to take all the jobs. promotions are going away. company is shrinking. everybody knows becoming JG3 is very dangerous for being fired.
so what happens is people work for 2-3 years then job hop to get a promotion. plus benefits and pay and stock comp and a bunch of other long term benefits are eliminated or shrunk.
well, show me your incentives and i’ll tell you your outcomes. you have to promote from within and fairly it you want to fire the dregs each year or you’re gonna build a mediocrity farm. you have to pay and retain top talent too.
no reason to try for promotion if it gets you fired within six months or doesn’t even work because some dutch person applied and is always a favorite regardless of skill. job hopping is much easier and smarter. no reason to go above if no bonuses and losing money to inflation. company is run by penny pinching id--ts chasing power fantasies with one quarter at a time thinking
