New 1TC is stupid

I don’t know which was a dumber decision, the new garbage Laptops/tablets they bought or spending millions to develop 1TC. The people in charge of both of these decisions should be fired in my view.

They do everything to make you leave

I didn’t get laid off, but I’m under so much pressure now that I’m going to have to quit my job. It's certainly never been this bad before. Is it just their tactic to get rid of more people without giving layoffs, I’m not sure, but that’s how it... — read more

Censored?

Is it just me or did I remember seeing a post that had a lot of threads about Jason Kennedy and the Alberta government? Was the post removed? Ahhhh free speech as long as it’s not offensive. Got to love it.

How much have are we losing because of nepotism?

The reality is that there are people who currently work here, do not have the required skill (s). The “It’s not what you know it’s who you know” process is affecting the overall performance of the company. HR hiring processes are very poor. Hiring... — read more

What is really going on out there?

I've heard scuttle of some layoffs in a few business units but nothing to the mass layoffs that these threads speak of. No movement of office closures. Some talk of keeping FT headcount down, re-orgs forcing those remaining to wear more hats, and... — read more

Waiting is the worst

I’m worried about the upcoming reorgs as I’m pretty certain majority of us are. Sadly, I have a feeling many are not going to be ready for it. To make it worse, I have a nauseating pit in my stomach because I know the wait is going to be painful. I... — read more

Christmas layoffs?

Anyone thinks TC can be cruel enough as to continue this 'realignment' into the holiday season? From what I've heard, what's going on right now is just the start. Who knows how long they'll drag it out. I really hope they have it all done before... — read more

Realignment in Progress

A realignment announcement this afternoon, changes already being made. Cancellation of meetings already happening. It’s interesting to see it unfold, it’s part of the process, they just need to tell individuals rather than prolonging it. — read more

Attended a meeting with executive management. The list of names is being conducted by HR. In the next 3 to 4 weeks, the purge will begin and completed by December.

Russ Girling’s promise leaves with him

Right as he announced his retirement, the ELT goes back on his word for no personnel cuts in 2020, in the midst of a pandemic. Breaking this promise will tarnish the company’s image for years to come. The pseudo pay-cuts from taking away days off are... — read more

I was laid off from TCPL back in Dec 2015

One of the best companies and the managers that I have worked for (after working in major oil sands companies and international engineering companies). I belong to a minority group and up until that day, I have never faced any adversities in Canada. ... — read more

This might be a large reorganization

I heard the layoffs are not all related to Keystone XL and may be company wide. Might be a large reorganization. There is a reason they asked everyone to start working from the office in September. HR can't deliver the paperwork when your let go of... — read more

I work at TC and every time I see people that join TC I wonder: how that happens.... with those skills they are bringing on board.... or correct me to say: with no required skills. If HR reads this blog, please pay attention that bringing someone... — read more

No major job redundancies in 2020/2021

We won’t see many jobs declared redundant in 200/2021. The Canadian government is expected to invest substantially into the energy sector in Alberta. As everyone knows Alberta is the engine that drives Canada. A strong Alberta leads to a strong... — read more

Pipeline approval

with new pipeline approval issues and still uncertainty of upcoming elections.... I see some folks are no longer with us. Are we putting some hiring freeze on contractors?

the business is getting mess up

talking about the technical side, it is really messy, kickout the qulifued "can do" people, and now looks no people really know what is the work they are doing, but only talking around. mess around with limited of knowledge.

I was fired 12-20-16 from CPG/Transcanada after 10 yrs, 7 months. I was a Senior Gas Controller and it was a hectic day on the PA system.

While working with problems going on in another station, a station alert came up in another area and it is said I acknowledged it but didn't react until 4 hours later. This happened on a Sunday afternoon and I was asked to come up on Tuesday, my... — read more
