Amazon or Whole Foods

Just got notice from my TL that I will be getting an email that states I either have to go full time at whole foods if there is a spot available or give up either my part time at whole foods and part time at the Amazon counter since I cannot have "two jobs within Amazon". I'll have 5 days to make the decision.

Retail IT

I’m hoping for some honest feedback. I recently applied for a role in the Retail IT department at Walgreens, but I walked away with a really bad feeling about the hiring director and the overall environment. I’m wondering if pursuing this opportunity might be a mistake.

Thursday Store Meeting?

Notified yesterday of a mandatory in store meeting happening tomorrow. Any information on this? Seems to be happening to select stores, including COR. I know US Cellular has been shutting doors lately, is T-Mobile cutting corporate doors as well? No information is able to be given by anyone until this meeting.

Retail stores are being notified of layoffs

Anyone else? Got told last day is 6/6/26, ironically enough. On the east coast. Not even sure if all my coworkers are aware yet either. Next steps are basically severance or reapply to a role nearby and hope the rsm likes you. Had another friend find out the same thing at his store in the south as well.

T-Mobile Shuts Retail Outlets, Workforce Reductions Continue

T-Mobile is implementing a digital-first strategy. This transformation includes ongoing employee layoffs. The company is also quietly closing some authorized retail stores. These store closures are resulting in further job losses. Some remaining locations are converting to premium Experience stores.

Not so good list.

Here are some of the largest and most prominent companies currently sitting near the bottom of their yearly range:

Company Ticker Sector
Intuit INTU Application Software
AutoZone AZO Automotive Retail
Lowe's LOW Home Improvement Retail
Tractor Supply Co. TSCO Specialty Retail
Conagra Brands CAG Packaged Foods
Campbell Soup CPB Packaged Foods

DI-K'S CLOSING 175 CHAMPS AND 400 FOOTLOCKER STORES BY END OF THIS YEAR

That is awful news for Nike because after collapse of DTC, Nike needs more doors than ever before!!! There are no new stores coming down the pipeline and existing ones are going down the pipe.
I guess that is when you say Nike is stuck in a rock and a harp place!!

Brick and mortar shoe stores are done!!! So it is up to Nike to create new source of doors to move their product.
Brick and mortar is done!! So what Nike should do is open third party sellers in amazon, walmart and ebay to sell in that platform who are there with proven good standing status.
Nike cannot open more independent brick and mortar stores since nobody in right mind will open stores.
So Nike needs to go outside of box and open independent third party sellers in internet!!!

I feel so defeated. The shoplifters won.

Ever since the directive has shifted to no use of force my store has been getting robbed blind.

I’m an ap manager and I as well as my team has to sit and watch the thieves ransack our store and there is literally nothing we can do about it other than “can you come with me”.

The colleagues hate us now and think we’re lazy because they see it happening but it isn’t our fault.

What we are allowed to do has changed for the negative but the expectations are still high. My director continues to push for productivity despite our hands literally being tied behind our backs.

Lord I hope this changes soon. We are one of the only retailers in our mall with this policy and as a result all of the thieves come here. 35 years in loss prevention and I’ve never seen it this bad.

Boots to have an IPO.

So it appears that Stefano's Boots chain is being spun off and will have an IPO. Don't know when this will happen as the article was paywalled, but I guess this is/was part of Mr. P's plans to regain his losses? I wonder if this would have any effect on Walgreens, or nothing since they're separated now.

NIKE'S BIGGEST MISTAKE

destroy independent dealers network who had connection with their local markets, customer base and worked hard everyday to maintain positive relationships from Nike and their local customers.
Each individual dealers knew the market and provided what customer demanded. And from broad Nike offering they selected and provided what customer wants
For example: I had couple of store where there were majority of population was Hispanic and I worked hard to provide what they wanted. And I had a friend who had stores in mostly African American inner-city area his store offering was totally different than mine. And a friend in Central Valley rural area had his own offering of shoes that people in his area wanted.
Now, Nike eliminated all of their distribution system that helped to get where they are.
Instead, they have a system where it is one size fit approach.

Greed is what it ki-led the Nike. They thought that they could do everything by themselves with their minimum wage staff in the store. WRONG!!!!

Communism failed everywhere in the world because they thought that being is big is the best answer but history has proven thousands of individuals will beat communist every time.

I was told that eliminating all the independent dealers was PK's idea and ditto for hiring JD as CEO.
PK built Nike but he is also main reason that Nike will face negative future.

Lowe's Restructures, Eliminating 600 Corporate Positions

Lowe's Companies announced plans to cut 600 corporate and support roles nationwide. This reduction represents about one percent of its total workforce. The company aims to shift resources toward store operations and customer-facing employees. Many affected employees are based in Mooresville and Charlotte, North Carolina.

What if Marshall Field's had been retained for the midwest ?

What if Marshall Field's had been retained ? There was so much good will that was accumulated. Since the conversion to Macy's, Chicago and mid-western stores are quite "different" to say the least. After pivoting, they discovered that there was a need for more localization but has it been enough. Look at what Marshall Field's used to be.

Why could they have not refreshed the stores and polished the legacy that was extraordinary. Maybe things were perfect....but wasn't there better possibilities for the future of the trajectory of the business and the long term viability all around ? T

These stores used to have restaurants, beauty salons, unique and curated assortments that were unique and exciting ! What do you think ?
