Talent in India…

They are attempting to move roles/workflows to the ENGINE that have been difficult to recruit for due to lack of competitive pay and talent pools in the US. In India, the talent pools are very small to non existent, with multiple companies pursuing... — read more

Who’s ready for a lot of words with no substance while they tell us how important we are as they plan to get rid of as many of us as they can Can’t Wait!

Is this level of incompetence common at other big corps?

I’ll preface by saying this is my first job out of undergrad so i don’t have anything else to compare it to, but i genuinely refuse to believe the people at the top of a company this size are THIS incompetent. It has to just be a charade right? Am i... — read more

No point in trying anymore

I remember when you could move up the ladder and have a family life. That hasn't been true for a while now. Now, if you want to advance your career, you can forget about having a personal life. Evenings, weekends, holidays...everything is fair game... — read more

High offshore capabilities

We were told, not what low value work to offshore, but change mindset to, why can't the offshore centers do? It is getting hopeless in the company, offshore problems cleared by soon to go staff, yet ELT are only focused on short term gains

Timing leave with CIP bonus

The CIP bonus gets usually gets paid out in early March from my memory. When is the earliest you could leave and still get your CIP bonus paid out? If you left in January or February would you still get your CIP bonus paid out?

Just venting here

With layoffs coming, offshoring trends, and competent hard workers these days being significantly less valued than sleazy bullsh-tters, what’s the point? I’m working towards nothing really, so why put in any extra effort? Why bother? I’m mid-career... — read more

Increase ratio of employees to managers

A simpler idea we could copy from CEOs in the tech sector (simpler than Agile!): “Amazon CEO Andy Jassy hates bureaucracy so much he’s planning to increase the ratio of employees to manages”. Everyone off a direct line of sight from Sr. Management to... — read more

Chevron Layoffs 2025

Is there going to be any reorg or Chevron layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?

Future of WFH

Are we in the calm before The Email hits? What’s in the rumor mill?

Asking for advice

I’m currently with another company, and I want to change jobs. Chevron is one the options on the table. Not much of an improvement compared to my current job in terms of pay, but I figured it’s time for change. What’s the culture? Work-life balance?... — read more

The Corporate greed is out of control

cvx roughly made $14.43 billion net profit this year. Interest rate reductions are expected. Leadership still wants to perform massive layoffs. Mergers result in less jobs, less choices, and higher prices. Mergers need rejected. Can't compete... — read more

I’ve started looking for other opportunities

Writing has been on the wall for quite a while. Engine, restructuring, more offshoring on the side. I expect a lot of layoffs to come our way, and I don’t want to be here when sh-t hits the fan. I think it will be worse than ever before, and it will... — read more

Nobody's got your back

If you’re still holding onto the idea that CVX leadership has your best interest at heart, it’s time to let that go. And it's not just here. No matter the company, it’s all the same. The harder you work, you keep making someone else richer. The truth... — read more

How to avoid losing job to india

In theory any of our jobs can be offshored but some are less likely than others. What sorts of rolls should I be looking to move into to be safer? I'm guessing field operations, managemant support, and HR. Other thoughts?

Engine confirms reorg failure

Given that it takes 2ish years to judge the success of a reorg, and that it probably takes 18 months to plan something like Engine - the failure of the 2020 reorgs must’ve been immediately recognized at high levels. But what I find myself wondering... — read more

Engine = Structural

Seen it in Exxon, when the CEO says structural, he means layoffs. That’s the code word in us analyst community. He needs to show reduction like Exxon did. Exxon went from 74000 employees to 62000, and also grew in cheap countries by 5000. That’s... — read more
