If you’re in your 50s, do you expect more to get laid off than younger employees?

We are Enbridge ELT

Of course we will lay people off yearly to mask how inefficient we are Of course we’ll send a survey after the layoffs to see how good the culture is Of course the results of the not so anonymous survey will be glowing Of course we will have... — read more

Employees are completely expendable

I feel sorry for those few souls who keep thinking they are safe because of this or that. Sometimes I want to shake them and ask them where have they been for the past few years. Your head needs to be firmly stuck in the sand not to realize that... — read more

Job ladder question

My job ladder changed in my workday about 5 months ago, but was not communicated to me. What do you suppose this means?

Pension

Does anyone have a reliable information if the Enbridge pension fund is fully funded? What’s your back up plan in case this goes sideways?

Why the month wait?

What’s the speculation on giving a months notice? Are they hoping some that are on the edge make the jump? Why would that person wait to see if they get severance first?

Putting Into Perspective

I know this is not a popular opinion but working for a publicly listed company like Enbridge gives you zero job security. And this is not unique to Enbridge, just look at the level/amount of layoffs that had been happening since last year across... — read more

Layoff date

I’ve heard many different things regarding the actual date. Mostly, that announcements will made by people leaders on a Monday to work from home on Tuesday. Then, layoffs will occur on said Tuesday and employees laid off will be allowed to return to... — read more

The most toxic workplace I've ever been in

Enbridge is by far the worst and most toxic workplace I had to endure. It's not just the higher-ups contributing to the toxic vibes, the employees are just as guilty of it. In fact, sometimes it feels like being toxic is practically a job... — read more

Cringy Moment

What is the most cringy comment that your supervisor or manager ever said? It’s family day long weekend in Canada that’s why I remember it. In one of our meetings few years ago my supervisor said “Let’s work together fam!” Holy she called us family... — read more

Be Kind To Each Other

There are some nasty barbs being thrown around on here. We all are working to put food on the table, pay our mortgage/rent, enjoy a few hobbies and leisure and most importantly support our families. There are always really good people let go in... — read more

What’s happening with Ops in Ontario

Does anyone know what’s happening in ops? We’ve always been “safe”. Yet now the union has been asked to axe multiple outside workers. Fewer workers equals fewer supervisors (me). We’re already running with a skeleton staff and now this? Not to be ... — read more

TIS Tech Lab - Dead?

Heard that part of the layoffs will be to toast the T&I Lab. That would be around 50 people or so. Anyone heard similar?

Past Severance

Would anyone happen to know the severance calculations for past layoffs (2015, 2016, 2017 or 2020)? I am a fairly new employee of Enbridge and interested to see if there’s a trend with what’s offered.

Canadian Friends

Just FYI... for those who are federally regulated and not an engineer or others as laid out in the code, remember that you have a max allowable hours of work, which is 48. If they've been working you more, even if you're overtime eligible or salary... — read more

Technical Managers?

I heard a rumor that technical managers are being given an ultimatum: package or demotion. Makes sense because it’s an odd position to be paid so much but not have any reports to deal with.

Expect a high turnover rate after this is done

Nobody sane is going to want to stay here and wait for something like this to happen again. And let's not kid ourselves, something like this will happen again and again. Enbridge is no longer a good or safe place to work and the more people realize... — read more

Work from tomorrow?

I was just teams'd by a lady in HR, stating that I was eligible to work from home tomorrow and to be available for a quick chat around 11AM, anyone else? I'm not really sure what they might want, maybe it's an internal posting follow-up.

Can we speed this up?

And wake up on March 1st? We’ve been under so much pressure and facing uncertainty for weeks now. I have a life to live and bills to pay, and it would be great to finally find out whether I should be looking for another job.

I sure hope the SCM HR BP’s are on the list. They serve no purpose and are likely over compensated overhead.
