Just because a favorable decision comes down doesn’t mean that we can’t get more efficient…

Sure they were mad a Bell. But nothing was done and nothing will be done and it’s now old news. Same will happen at Enbridge. They don’t really care. Just wait till the Liberals put a tax on natural gas use and appliances. It is coming. And this taking over the OEB will give them the authority to do it.

The government stepping in is very bad for Enbridge Employees in the long term. It now gives them control over energy decisions. So when and if a Liberal Government get back in in Ontario, with their environmental mandates. Natural Gas will be dead. The next round of layoffs will make this round look like a drop in the bucket.

I don't know if they exactly reversed the decision. The OEB is a regulatory body. From the video below they are going to ask the OEB to reconsider their decision with more information. The minister even acknowledges it may mean splitting the cost of new natural gas over less than 40 years. It seems like it still a decision that will have to be made by the OEB and they still may say "No". There is an electrification drive in Ontario.

Why so much in GDS. Ontario government just bailed us out.

They govt fired and and basically invalidated the regulator and re-validated the entire future for natural gas and fossil fuels for the next 40 years.

Pretty landmark legal preceding for North America - first time a government has destroyed a regulator.

Win for the company for sure. The PC government also dropped a hidden clause in the bill which allows them full control over the regulator decisions limits to limit what can be enforced.

GDS is good now? Bit of a blow for democracy in Canada - not great for people and or fair legal proceedings. All we have to do is keep greasing polio tick and and we are golden.

Hope the execs realize this come tues and back off major cuts in GDS as its now full steam ahead fornfossil fuels in ontario

350 of 650 will be from GDS

Our VP said it would be near proportional across all BU’s. GDS is a huge portion of the company and therefore a huge portion of the cuts. A few of us guessing GDS will see 250 cuts.

Re-read the original email from Greg Ebel, it says enterprise wide, that means each of the business units, of which there are 5 or 6, company wide. There are employees from New Brunswick to BC to the NWT, south to Texas. There are also operations overseas. While Gas in Ontario MAY have a higher proportion of reductions, keep in mind this is a huge corporation with 12000 employees. Most of us will be keeping our jobs.
