Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

This is so Cruel

So I left Enbridge on my own terms some time ago and it felt like I was starting all over again. But hey it didn’t took long for me to advance my career and I still have a DB pension plan.

For the past couple of months, there are 6 headhunters who approached me in which 4 of them are for “opportunities” for Enbridge. I almost chuckled because I left twice already because if I stayed I might die sooner with stress. The amount of anxiety I had accumulated over the years with cr-ppy politics, fake people, incompetent people leaders plus the uncertainty of what it seems like a causal layoffs is not worth it. All good, I also saved some money from working at Enbridge. That’s probably the only good thing that came out of it.

I maybe have different circumstances and I didn’t had a hard time looking for a job back then but for people who still have lots of working years left : EVALUATE your options. Think if this is really the place you wanna stay some more years.

These contract staffing firms are all competing with each other to find the candidate that will get the job. They will headhunt for anyone even remotely qualified in the chance they may be selected and therefore their contract firm get's paid. So if an Engineer contract role is available, at least 10 different staffing firms want "their" candidate to get the position so they can mooch 15-25% of the pay so they will reach out to anyone including past Enbridge employees.

“Assume they were contract positions, which we get hundreds of garbage applicants for through ‘headhunters’, who value quantity over quality just hoping something will stick.”

So if someone left already as an employee why would they come back as contractor? From what I see there are lots of incompetent people leader who just ride off the good work of contractors under them to look good. And why the heck is Enbridge continue to hire contractors if their employees are all competent?

There are people leaders with not so much integrity. They will often shy away from written records so it can’t be traced back later. Glad I left Enbridge with a better pay.
